Also, try this to make sure you have permissions: $ smbclient '\\192.168.2.5\Media Folder' -U maikel Type in your password and type in ls at the smbclient prompt. share|improve this answer edited Mar 5 '14 at 0:18 slm♦ 166k40305474 answered Mar 4 '14 at 23:32 samiam 1,961412 1 The single quotes did the job. i used an \040 (space) in /etc/fstab and it works! It was trying to resolve the hostname "DFSAPP03" and failing. In my case the problem was fixed by using a different server address. The error: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -6 Probably indicates that while the authentication steps are all OK, these is a problem with actually finding the share on the network. share|improve this answer answered Jun 5 '15 at 19:08 Rob Syme 112 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Name Email discard By posting your answer, you agree to the privacy policy and terms of service.
