I've done the command you said Agent86 but I have the same result. I've downloaded also the .deb file but there is a problem too. I don't know what problem has this game. –Francesco May 7 '12 at 21:29 Please confirm whether you're running a 64-bit installation (that's the most common case for this problem). –Gilles May 7 '12 at 21:49 Yes I confirm that I'm using a 64-bit architecture on my laptop. –Francesco May 7 '12 at 22:31 add a comment| 6 Answers 6 active oldest votes up vote 131 down vote You're probably trying to run a 32-bit binary on a 64-bit system that doesn't have 32-bit support installed. There are three cases where you can get the mess

When I try and run from terminal, I get: : No such file or directory. I try a similar python script, in the same directory, with the same python shebang, the same permissions and using the same user pi, and it works. I also do a ls and I can see the http://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/189254/no-such-file-or-directory-but-i-can-see-it file, so I don't know why it will not run. ls executable newlines shebang share|improve this question edited Mar 10 '15 at 23:14 Gilles 373k696781128 asked Mar 10 '15 at 12:34 reggie 2731313 1 Did you edit `areadetect_movie_21.py' on Windows? The CR character causes the cursor to move back to the beginning of the line after the shell prints the beginning of the message and so you only get to see the part after CR which ends the interpreter string that's part of the error message. Remove the CR: the shebang line needs to have a Unix line ending (linefeed only). Python itself al

I have put a binary application file named "sp-sc-auth" http://stackoverflow.com/questions/18334204/no-such-file-or-directory-error-in-linux to the directory /usr/bin/.Now when I want to start this in the terminal, then I get this error message (in german):[shibby@linux ~]$ cd /usr/bin/ [shibby@linux bin]$ sp-sc-auth sop://broker.sopcast.com:3912/6418 3908 8908 bash: /usr/bin/sp-sc-auth: Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefundenIn english:bash: /usr/bin/sp-sc-auth: No such file or directoryBut the file ist there...[shibby@linux bin]$ ls -d sp* sp-sc-auth spd-conf no such spd-say spdsend speaker-test speech-dispatcher speexdec speexenc split sprofWhat is wrong?FYI[shibby@linux bin]$ uname -r 3.4.9-1-ARCHThanksshibby Last edited by shibby (2012-08-27 14:59:51) Offline #2 2012-08-27 14:08:52 karol Archivist Registered: 2009-05-06 Posts: 25,433 Re: [SOLVED] No such file or directory, but file exist Please post the output offile /usr/bin/sp-sc-authanduname -mThis error often means you're trying to run a 64-bit binary on a 32-bit system. Seriously, run:$ echo $PATHI think you just forgot to set the executable bit:# chmod +x /usr/bin/sp-sc-authDon't forget to mark the topic as solved (by editing the first post).Edit: Oh, it's a binary. I thought I was a script. The executable bit should already be set then. In the program path (/home/hora/Paradigm/) there is a directory "testdata" (/home/hora/Paradigm/testdata) which includes a shell script that runs an example test of the application. The first time I installed the program I was able to run the shell script(runtests.sh) but now that I try to run it I get the error of " No such file or directory", although the files which is mentioned by the error are there. I am sure the problem is due to lack of my knowledge to linux and your help will be appreciated.
