I've tried replacing normal.dot and uninstalling/reinstalling Office, to no avail. Other users in the office don't have any issue opening the document (through the same accounting program). Any ideas? Or it could be an add-in - try Phil Rabichow's Systematic Approach to Behavioral Problems in Word. 2009-02-02,14:53 #3 NYIntensity View Profile View Forum Posts 5 Star Lounger Join Date Nov 2004 Location Wilmington, North Carolina, USA Posts 1,196 Thanks 0 Thanked 0 Times in 0 Posts Re: Runtime error '5981': Could not open macro storage (2003 SP3) Thanks Hans To amplify the problem; it only occurs when opening documents that are linked to excel workbooks. ____________________________ Jeremy "If you spend more on coffee than on IT security, then you will be hacked.
