I have been running it successfully for the past 10 years through multiple computer and software upgrades. I have just installed the program on a new computer (Windows 7) and I am getting an error 5981 - Could not open macro storage. The code is tripping at the ** line below: Public Function CreateIndividualizedReport(FileDescription As String, FormTemplate http://stackoverflow.com/questions/13981776/vba-in-ms-access-linking-to-word-error-code-5981 As String, ClientFile As String, CallTheFile As String, Optional ClientType As Integer) As Boolean CreateIndividualizedReport = False Set glbWordObj = New Word.Application FilePath = DLookup("FilePath", "tblFileLocation", "FileDescription = '" & FileDescription & "'") **Set WordObjDoc = glbWordObj.Documents.Add(FilePath)** I have searched online for this but all solutions have either not worked (renaming the Normal.dot file) or seem to be for much older versions of windows (most posts of this error seem to date from the early 2000's) Anyone seen this problem recently or used different code to interface with Word? ms-access ms-word share|improve this question edited May 15 '15 at 16:18 Jota 10.7k52960 asked Dec 20 '12 at 22:47 Jane 1112 1 It works for me (Access 2010 / Win 7). Can you manually open a Word document with that template? –Fionnuala Dec 20 '12 at 22:56 2 Just a thought: is the Document at FilePath either Trusted or in a Trusted folder? –user1379931 Dec 21 '12 at 19:31 Adding the network location to the list of trusted locations, as suggested by @bibadia, fixed the problem for me. –AtliB Sep 29 '14 at 15:56 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote There is a very long (and interesting) discussion of a similar error here: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/accessdev/thread/5dfefcc5-0483-4

Solved error 5981 : could https://groups.google.com/d/topic/microsoft.public.word.application.errors/h8Zq38NzxC8 not open macro storage Posted on 2002-10-29 MS Office 1 Verified Solution 8 Comments 1,608 Views Last Modified: 2011-04-14 hello everyone.. pls help!!! i am getting the above error INTERMITTENTLY when i run the 2 macros that not open i have created.. i know there is a similar article on this posted long back but that doesn't seem to resolve my problem... i have also gone thru the below link but all the options suggested don't seem to apply in my case - http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q162/0/53.asp let me explain why... the 1st macro converts a doc file to pdf (by creating a postscript file first using a print driver and then creating the pdf from the .ps word cannot open file using acrodist.exe).. the 2nd macro simply converts the doc file to .prn using a print driver... both macros are executed via toolbar icons and are in the same template file (.dot) which is placed in C:\mydocs... also the workgroup template (Word -> Tools -> Options -> File Locations) is pointed to C:\mydocs so that the macros come up automatically when the doc is fetched from the repository (all docs are stored on a server)... also the output files (.pdf and .prn) go to a diff server. now the macros run fine but give the above error occasionally.. the options mentioned in the above link are not helping me since - - when the doc on which the macro error occurs is closed and again re-fetched from the repository, the macro runs fine... also the error does not occur always.. nor on any specific doc.. so normal.dot and vbe.dll should be supposedly fine (or else the error would happen for all) - n/w permissions are all correct for the same reason above - RAM is 255MB and HDD space is 20GB.. no other applications are open. pls let me know if i have missed anything or got something wrong.. pls advise. thanks in advance. aakash. 0 Question by:guptaak_2000 Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 44 Best Solution bybruintje what also could be the case is that w
