Outlook 2013 Not Opening
to start it, try the following steps. Fix 1 Visit outlook 2016 won't open Microsoft's website to obtain and write down the "Current version" number available for Outlook 2016. At the outlook 2016 safe mode time of this writing, it is "15.0.4815.1001". Hold down the Windows Key, then press "R" to bring up the Windows Run dialog box. Type one of the https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2427204 following depending on your setup: 64-bit version, type: "%programfiles%\Microsoft Office 15\ClientX64\OfficeClickToRun.exe" /update user updatetoversion=(version) 32-bit version, type: "%programfiles%\Microsoft Office 15\ClientX86\OfficeClickToRun.exe" /update user updatetoversion=(version) where "(version)" is the version you wrote down in step 1. When prompted, select the options to "Repair" Office. Fix 2 Hold down the "CTRL" key on your http://www.technipages.com/outlook-crashes-at-startup keyboard while opening Outlook. Select "File" > "Manage Add-Ins". Now you need to disable plugins to see if they are the root of your issue. If any add-ins are enabled, select the "Disable this add-in" button. Click "Close", then close Outlook. Restart Outlook normally. Hopefully it starts and you are problem free. These steps have fixed Outlook a few times for me and hopefully they help you too. Problem I have Outlook 2010 installed on a Windows 7 64-bit system and up till now it's been working fine. Yesterday, I went to open it and I got the following error message: "Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot http://helpdeskgeek.com/office-tips/fix-outlook-2010-wont-open-problem/ open the Outlook window." What's sad is that I've had this EXACT same problem in http://www.howtogeek.com/forum/topic/outlook-2010-hangingfreezing-upon-startup Outlook 2007 and I even wrote about an article about it over a year ago: http://helpdeskgeek.com/office-tips/fix-cannot-start-microsoft-office-outlook-error/ For whatever reason, the solution to the problem in Outlook 2010 is different and none of those methods worked for me when trying to fix it for 2010. So read the previous post and if nothing there works for you, then try not open the methods listed below. Method 1 - Delete Registry Key Click on Start and type in regedit to open the registry editor in Windows 7. Navigate to the following key in the registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem Now delete the Profiles key that is under Windows Messaging Subsystem. Restart your computer and try to open Outlook 2010. Hopefully that fixes your problem! Method 2 - Install Latest Service Pack and Microsoft Upates The outlook 2010 startup next thing you can try if that didn't work for you is to install the latest Office 2010 service pack, which is SP 1 right now. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26617 This has fixed the problem for quite a few people, so if nothing else is working for you, then definitely install SP 1 and also download all the latest security updates from Microsoft using Windows Update. Method 3 - Open Task Manger/Kill Process This problem of Outlook not starting can also be caused by multiple instances of Outlook running without being properly killed. If you go into Task Manger (Ctrl + Shift + Esc), you should only see one Outlook process running. If you see more than one outlook.exe in the process list, go ahead and select each one and choose End Process. Once you have killed off all of the Outlook processes, then try to restart Outlook and see if it loads properly. So there you have a couple of more possible solutions to this very annoying problem! We have a relatively new system...all new computers/servers. One users Outlook seems to hang/freeze approximately every three days upon startup. I have been told to try disabling one Add-In at a time. So far I have had no luck. Below is a log of what has happened so far. I'm just wondering if anyone has had this problem and has a solution. Not for application crashes. These are unrelated to the outlook crash. Many of the GPO-related messages that you are seeing are expected and are due to the fact that certain GPP operations have already completed which prevents them from completing without error again. We do not, however, necessarily want to set the items to run only once, because should the conditions they are addressing recur, they would not be able to address them going forward. For troubleshooting Outlook issues, it is usually to start disabling add-ins, one-at-a-time, to see if the issue stops. Then re-enabling the add-ins to see if turning the one back on actually breaks the application again. If a single add-in can be pinpointed, then it should either be removed or re-installed. Then the application should be tested again.
