I am a desktop support engineer for a large company here in http://forum.support.xerox.com/t5/Printing/Syntax-Errors-on-Xerox-3500-Printers/td-p/19080 the UK. I have an issue with 3500 printers syntax erroring on random documents. I am told by our problem management that there is nothing we can do as the printers are rubbish, but I dont belive this.Users are receiving errors when printing documents to Xerox 3500 Printers, some of these have been seen on 7400’s too.On a 3500 - Printing PS3 is displayed on the printer for around 30 seconds maybe more. Nothing prints and error printing is displayed on the user’s computer. Rebooting the printer seems to resolve this however the issue will return.Sometimes only half of a document will print (This includes windows test pages). Sometimes the page will duplex and display the following error message on the reverse side –---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ERROR: SyntaxerrorOFFENDING COMMAND: cvt < fpgm: `1 Now I've been working on this for a while now and made little progress. Hopefully someone else has seen this. We have 4 main terminal servers that everyone logs into https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/88995-pdf-print-jobs-fail-to-print and gets their entire desktop and applications. Network printers are installed on each of the four servers separately. Most staff have an older model Wyse terminal at their desktop. We have a lot of Ricoh http://www.ajaykumarsingh.com/adobe/pdf-printing-error-error-ioerror-offending-command-image.html 2035/2045 and HP 4100/4050 printers. Several of the users are at off site locations and connected over an IPSec VPN. The problem I'm having started occurring about 6 months ago. For some reason certain PDF offending command files get stuck in the print queue. Everyone will be printing fine -PDF, Office documents, emails, etc. and a particular PDF will get sent generating for example a 900kb print job, maybe 250kb will appear to transfer, a few pages will print, then nothing happens for almost a minute, Windows generates an error saying the document failed to print, then the print job starts over, transfers the same amount as error ioerror offending before. Sometimes the process will loop until someone kills the job or the printer runs out of paper. Has anyone been able to resolve this? Reply Subscribe RELATED TOPICS: Optimizing PDF print jobs for VPN? Does it work? 0 Chipotle OP Nate6203 Feb 12, 2010 at 10:56 UTC Nope, I tried 'Print as Image' with PCL 6 from Ricoh and HP Universal. The response was different however. Instead of failing to transfer the entire document the entire document cleared the print queue without any errors. But the printer did absolutely nothing. 0 Mace OP bytesnake Feb 12, 2010 at 11:38 UTC Then investigate the connection from printing workstation to the printer. 0 Chipotle OP Nate6203 Feb 12, 2010 at 1:50 UTC The connection from desktop to printer is good 0% packet loss. The connection from terminal server is good 0% packet loss. Other, larger print jobs, come out with no problems. 0 Datil OP Air Jim image PDF Printing Error - Error: ioerror OFFENDING COMMAND: image Adobe Jul 11, 2011 No comments Tweet Pin It While printing a PDF document on HP color printer I got following error printed instead of the document's content. Error: ioerror OFFENDING COMMAND: image STACK: -dictionary- -mark- -savelevel- I did a quick search and to my surprise there is no quick solution for this error. A further detailed search revealed no solution at all. This is weird as I expected some solution or a dirty fix at least. Having found no clue, I decided to do some quick workaround. Workaround - 1 The first thing I did was to combine 2 PDF documents into one and then print the combined document. It gave same error. Workaround - 2 I opened PDF document in Adobe Photoshop and printed it from Photoshop but it again showed error - slightly different though: Error: ioerror OFFENDING COMMAND: image STACK: { } -filestream- Humm! It might be because the document size was huge and I cancelled the printing. I printed it after reducing the size and it worked. I didn't give up and came up with the 3rd workaround. Workaround - 3 Open the PDF document in Photoshop and Save it as image from Save As menu. Then open these saved .jpg images in Photoshop and print it. If it doesn't work then open .jpg files in any other image viewer and try to print from there. Next is to save the PDF Document as PNG or other formats from Photoshop and then try printing. This workaround also works.
