When creating PDF files, I use the file "epilogue.ps". In the file "epilogue.ps" I added the postscript error following line: (c:\\temp\\bookmarks.bmk) run In Acrobat 7 this worked fine. With Acrobat X the following error message appears: Processing epilogue.ps... %%[ Error: undefinedfilename; OffendingCommand: run ]%% Stack:

For example (assuming Acrobat 8.1),"C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 8.0\Acrobat\acrodist.exe" -F- Dov Dov Isaacs is a Principal Scientist at Adobe Systems Incorporated specializing in PDF publishing workflow, PDF print standards, prepress, and printing. I want to place one on a new page (e.g. A3 - 297 mm x 420 mm - or 842 x 1191 ps-points) - make a border arround it and add a text with the name and date of the used PS file above this frame. The problem is, that when using e.g. imagemagick or ghostscript - the files are interpreted by IM or GS => so they become a picture. But I need to verify that this certain/placed PS file is ok on a special printer RIP, so the printer must interpret it, not another RIP or application.Any ideas are welcome!Tech-background:- PS-files come from XPress or other applications- running Helios Ethershare with OPI (files are FAT PS)- resoluti
managed to help me out. Here's the story for posterity's sake.I'm currently working on a LaTeX document with some photos in it. As I'm using the PowerDot class, which is incompatible with pdflatex, I need to convert all my images to EPS and use ps2pdf to get my final PDF document. On the first attempt, I used the commandps2pdf file.ps file.pdfand it worked, except that my photos came out all muddy, a result of over compression. So, I added the option to turn off compression,ps2pdf -dEncodeColorImages=false file.ps file.pdfand end up with the wonderfully obtuse error messageError: /undefinedfilename in (false)Operand stack:Execution stack: %interp_exit .runexec2 --nostringval-- --nostringval-- --nostringval-- 2 %stopped_push --nostringval-- --nostringval-- --nostringval-- false 1 %stopped_pushDictionary stack: --dict:1122/1686(ro)(G)-- --dict:0/20(G)-- --dict:70/200(L)--Current allocation mode is localLast OS error: No such file or directoryMiKTeX GPL Ghostscript 8.54: Unrecoverable error, exit code 1Ick.It turns out that ps2pdf on Windows is a batch file, and batch files do not accept = in an argument. I had no idea that this was the case, but so it is. The solution, which is annoyingly absent in the documentation, is to replace = with #. Thus, the command on windows should be,ps2pdf -dEncodeColorImages#false file.ps file.pdfLike that, it works. And, I get my beautiful uncompressed photos in my document. I finally find the solution of my problem!!!!!ReplyDeleteAnonymous13 April, 2010 16:13it is in the docs, at http://pages.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/doc/cvs/Use.htm#MS_WindowsHowever I found the solution here, and only then remembered seeing something about this, years ago, and dug it up. So thanks for posting :)ReplyDeletematt13 April, 2010 16:14This comment has been removed by the author.ReplyDeleteJevon27 May, 2010 20:17Yup, helpfully the documentation on MS Windows only seems to be in new versions of Ghostscript (8.6+) so it seems in this case, Google Search is the wrong thing to do!ReplyDeleteAnonymous13 August, 2010 08:35oh man I spent 4 hours with this...ReplyDeleteAnonymous18 September, 2015 15:35Thanks
