It works fine displaying in the VIPP IDE but when I go to print it to Distiller, I get the following error output:%%[ Error: undefinedfilename; OffendingCommand: file ]%%The full path to the file name is specified in the code. And like I said, it displays fine in IDE. Any ideas?Posts: 3|Registered: 04 October 2005 IP jbouche posted 04 October 2005 07:57 AMHide PostThis is a typical example of non-portable code.As you may know file paths may be different from platform to platform for many reasons:- different OS (Windows/Unix/Apple)- different disk configuration (different partition, C drive on one system, D drive on another, ...)etc, ...Even on the same platform different PostScript interpreters may require different paths syntax's (likely the case here). One of the strength of the VIPP language is to avoid using full paths in any part of the user's code so that the job can be processed on any platform. This enables the resources organisation and paths to be different on each platform without impacting the VIPP job (see the SETxPATH commands for more details). If you post the path in question I can explain why it works on IDE and not on Distiller but the solution is to let VIPP find the file by simply providing its base name.If you want to display the content of a text file you can use the VSUB command associated with SHP. For instance:[=myfile.txt=] VSUB 0 SHPThe file must be placed in the mislib directories (likely xgfc/mislib) or project directories (at local, folder or global scope).Posts: 3160|Location: Switzerland|Registered: 04 May 2001 IP Ignored post by jbouche posted 04 October 2005 07:57 AMShow PostDave Kirk posted 04 October 2005 08:00 AMHide PostCan you provide a sample of the code.
