It can happen with a single page pdf, or on the 4th page of a

multipage pdf. Our work around has been to rasterize the pdf and then convert back to pdf but this is time consuming and the resulting print is of greatly reduced quality.Does anyone have any ideas on what this is? Is it a setting on the machine, accxess tools, or in acrobat? It now happens on a daily basis and although this has been an excellent printer, our boss is thinking we should not by a Xerox again. I would like to prove him wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.Best,Douglas Message 1 of 2 (4,359 Views) Reply 0 Kudos CherylO-Xerox Community Manager Posts: 2,230 Registered: 07-21-2010 Re: Xerox 6204 Error / Warning Page Options Mark as New Bookmark Subscribe Subscribe to RSS Feed Highlight Print Email to a Friend Report Inappropriate Content 03-18-2013 05:40 PM Hello Fletcher_Stinson. If you have not already resolved this issue, we suggest you search our onlineknowledgebase for this product: Xerox 6204 Wide Format Printer. You might also try using the "Print as Image" option in Adobe Acrobat to see if this helps with the quality of the prints. Alternatively, you canvisit our Contact Us page for other support options. a PostScript error Applies to : Illustrator InDesign PageMaker Photoshop PostScript printer drivers You can receive a PostScript error when sending xerox error undefined offending command stack a file to a PostScript interpreter (for example, a printer, Acrobat error unregistered offending command xshow Distiller). A PostScript error occurs when the PostScript interpreter can't read the file's PostScript code. An error

can also occur if the file's PostScript code exceeds one or more of the limits in the PostScript page description language. If your PostScript interpreter appears to process http://forum.support.xerox.com/t5/Printing/Xerox-6204-Error-Warning-Page/td-p/21569 data but then stops, a PostScript error could have occurred.A PostScript error message includes a PostScript error type, which defines the type of error it is. It also includes an offending command, which usually indicates the specific part of the PostScript code that the interpreter couldn't read. The offending command usually indicates the command that https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/troubleshoot-postscript-errors.html caused the problem. Some PostScript errors point you right to the cause of the problem, and some get you looking in the right direction.Example of a PostScript error:%%[Error: ; OffendingCommand: ]%%For example, the PostScript error %%[Error: dictfull; OffendingCommand: def ]%% contains the PostScript error type "dictfull" and the offending command "def." The error type indicates that the dictionary contains the maximum number of entries. The offending command is the last command the PostScript interpreter tried to process, "def," which defines a new word in the dictionary. View or print a PostScript error message If you think a PostScript error has occurred, but it doesn't appear onscreen or in your printout, you can sometimes view or print the error message. Do one or more of the following:Use an error handler utility. For example, Adobe PageMaker has the Include PostScript Error Handler option in the Print Options dialog box.In Windows, configure the printer to print the error message:Note: In Windows NT, you cannot configure a printer

With following statement, I tried to configure it out, if pdf is corrupt or not: gs \ -o /dev/null \ -sDEVICE=nullpage \ /path/to/corrupt.pdf The statement echo $? return always 0. I can't even open the pdf file with acrobat reader. Why gs does not recognize it? Or is there an alternativ to ghostscript? pdf pdf-generation ghostscript share|improve error undefined offending this question asked Aug 31 at 13:23 zero_coding 2,63762558 Does gs print any errors? Can you view it when you leave out -o ... -sDEVICE=... ? Are there any (orhter) errors or a return code then? What will file /path/to/corrupt.pdf say? If you're lucky enough, it is so corrupt that it won't be even recognizable as pdf. –Stefan Hegny Aug 31 at 15:15 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote accepted Ghostscript, like Acrobat, attempts to ignore errors in PDF files. Why ? Because if we don't people send us their crappy broken PDF files and say 'But Acrobat can open it'..... If you specify -dPDFSTOPONERROR then Ghostscript will instead throw an error on a large (but by no means exhaustive) range of broken PDF files. Note that the Ghostscript exit code does not ordinarily tell you if a PostScript (or in fact PDF) error occurred, the interpreter tells you that on the back channel. Ghostscript exit codes usually only tell you when something catastrophic happened to the interpreter (eg it ran out of memory). Ghostscript is not a PDF validation tool. share|improve this answer answered Aug 31 at 15:14 KenS 15.4k11325 do you know any pdf validat
