Install Crashes MS Office Help LinkBack Thread Tools Display Modes 02-18-2009, 04:50 PM #1 Tom Z Guest Posts: n/a Office 2007 Install Crashes I am having problems installing Office 2007 Professional Plus on several of our PCs. When I run the setup.exe the splash screen appears for a coule of seconds and then disappears. I then get a box asking if I want to send a report to Microsoft. I have tried installing the windows Installer 3.1 which did not help. Event Viewer shows an error Event ID 5000 and mentions a msiapicallfailure. I have also tried copying the files from the CD onto the hard drive and running the install that way. No luck. It installs on some PCs without any problems so I know my CD http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/msoffice_install-mso_other/unable-to-remove-or-install-office-2007-or-office/5e8df7d6-8e9f-44d9-a74e-4cfee11a6be9 is fine. All of these had Office 2003 installed previously and I first uninstall that version. I even tried the msi utility to clean the installation files and that did not work. I can reinstall Office 2003 back on with no problems. Any ideas? I had already tried that as I stated in my original post. Tomorrow morning I have an appointment with a Microsoft Office Deployment Engineer and he is going to help figure out the problem with this. If we get the answer I willl post it here. Tom "Brady Holt" wrote: > Install this

I used the OCT to build a custom MSP file without any problems. I even extracted, and added into the UPDATES folder, Office 2007sp1 and several hotfixes. I have had success running the installation office 2007 error from a command line, but my successes are random at best. After much banging around on the keyboard, and just for grins, I tried double clicking setup.exe and keep getting the MSIAPICALLFAILURE error. The log file shows "Error: Type: MSIGetSummaryInformation call failed...msiapicallfailure ErrorCode: 1620 (0x654)."I get that error 3 times and then the installation stops with a Return Code of 30050. Are my files corrupt? Specifics:Upgrading from O2k3 to O2k7ProPlusWill be downloading entire package via SMS and running locallyWindows XPsp2Windows Installer Version 3.1.4000.4039I sure do hope someone out there can help with this aggrivating issue. Thanks so much!Janis
 ajpommier 0 0 1 post July 3, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 I have also seen the same error message and return code. Check your Event Logs to see if MSI Installer is reporting issues. It is possible Installer may be corrupt and causing Office 2007 setup to fail.
 Create an account or sign in to comment You need to be a member in order to leave a comment Create an account Sign up for a new account in our community. Solved unattended Microsoft Office 2007 SP1 error Posted on 2009-02-12 MS Applications MS Office Office / Productivity 1 Verified Solution 3 Comments 2,012 Views Last Modified: 2012-06-21 We are finishing up a package to install office 2007 in our enterprise environment but during an initial test phase we have seen an anomaly where sp1 wont install correctly. Looking at the log files it looks as though one user gets "MAINWWsp1.msp" failing with a "MsiRecordSetInteger call failed" error while another gets the same call failed error right after the ClientSharedMUIsp1-en-us.msp. I have placed samples of the SetupExe Logs in the Code section, any help is MUCH appreciated.
