Perhaps you should consider a new PSU, or at least testing it (follow link in my signature for ways to test PSU). You should also note that XP doesn't support SATA, natively; you'll have to install "other drivers" before the install, by pressing F6 (when you get past the formatting part, of course). Another way to format the HDD is to connect it to another computer (as a slave, if using IDE) and format from Windows. If you're using a SATA HDD, just make sure that you instruct the BIOS to load the HDD with the OS first. m 0 l Related resources pleaaase help! Error Loading Operating System Server 2003
01:56:47 I was using my computer all day and when i got back from taking a shower i found my computer error operating system on the "loading operating system" screen. I restarted my computer and now it seems my usb ports don't work and it cannot get past the loading operating system screen. I also noticed that the loading http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/281533-30-error-loading-operating-system operating system text takes a little longer to pop up than it always has and there are no different sounding beeps, the ethernet light is also lighting up. My theory is that either the chipset has gone bad in my motherboard, or my SSD could have failed. Ive been trying to fix this for a while and i just cannot do it, any help is appreciated. Everytime I restart (Start Menu>Power>Restart), the computer begins it's BIOS checks, kicks into AHCI listing and then right after "Verifying DMI Pool Data" throws up and error; "Error loading operating system". Pressing ctrl + operating system alt + delete reboots the system and this second time, everything loads fine. Are you trying to say you have changed the setting to AHCI mode in the BIOS from IDE mode? This can only be done before installation of the OS or by a registry hack afterwards. It cna also cause problem,s with other drives on the same controller if they ar enot fully compatible.Did you clear the CMOS before installing the new drive? « Last Edit: December 28, 2010, 11:34:57 am by Dark Mantis » Logged Gigabyte X58A-UD7i7 920Dominators 1600 x6 12GB6970 2GBHX850256GB SSD, Sam 1TB, WDB320GBBlu-RayHAF 932 Gigabyte Z68X-UD5-B3i7 3770KVengeance 1600 16GB6950 2GBHCP1200WRevo Drive x2, 1.5TB WDB RAID016x DLRWStrikeX S7 Full water cooling 3 x 27" Iiy MarkJohnson 251 7 Re: "Loading Operating System ..." « Reply #2 on: December 28, 2010, 06:25:35 pm » Yes, I did clear CMOS after initial install and reinstalled windows plus removed all drives except SSD and DVD. I read about the issue and read memory settings can cause issues so I reseated them and used the XMP profile as well.I also has the issue before installing the SSD a month ago when I switched to AHCI for my HDDs. While imaging my HDD for preparation of installing my SSD Acronis keeps reporting a partition has errors (I dual boot Windows/Ubuntu) and just assumed it was a linux issue as Acroni
