Source is located on my local machine and is SQL Server 2014. Target is located on a http://stackoverflow.com/questions/36602930/directory-lookup-for-the-file-failed-with-the-operating-system-error-3-the-syst remote machine and it's SQL Server 2012. Here are the steps I've taken: On my local machine I go to SQL Server Management studio, I right click on MyDB and go to Tasks--> Generate Scripts. There I select "Script entire database and all database objects". I click Next and on the next page, under Advanced, I select "Schema and data". That generates a SQL file (scripts.sql) that contains the definition for MyDB. Then I use the following osql command to re-create the database on Target: osql -S target -d master -E -i scripts.sql -o output.log After execution is finished I get this error in the log file "output.log": 1> 2> 1> 2> 3> 4> 5> 6> 7> 8> Msg 5133, Level 16, State 1, Server Target, Line 2 Directory lookup for the file "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL12.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\DATA\MyDB.mdf" failed with the operating system error 3(The system cannot find the path specified.). He had been trying to create database and he had all the admin privileges. After getting remote desktop, I realize that he was everything correct but the filepath he was trying to create. Once he corrected the filepath everything was smooth from there. If you have the same error I suggest you carefully check your filepath. There must be some typo or error in filepath. If that is not the case and with admin rights you are still facing issue, post a comment here.Reference: Pinal Dave (http://blog.SQLAuthority.com) Tags: SQL Error MessagesRelated Articles SQL SERVER - Fix Error 1949, Level 16: Cannot create index on view. Reason: 15105) up vote -1 down vote favorite I tried the following code to try and bulk load into a table in my SQL Server. BULK INSERT dbo.CentralRepository_Associate_Details FROM '/1CAAP/1413/data/csvtest1.csv' WITH (FIELDTERMINATOR = ';') and got the following error : Cannot bulk load because the file "/1CAAP/1413/data/csvtest1.csv" could not be opened. Operating system error code 3(failed to retrieve text for this error. Reason: 15105). I guess error code 3 is a permission error. Just a request: I'm not very good as far as stuff like this is concerned. So explanation in layman terms would be really helpful. sql-server share|improve this question asked Jun 5 '14 at 7:29 user3455309 1111 migrated from stackoverflow.com Jun 5 '14 at 9:56 This question came from our site for professional and enthusiast programmers. So is there anyway I can do it using bulk insert? or is there another alte
