small businesses not requiring SCVMM Windows Server > Hyper-V Question 0 Sign in to vote disk2vhd hyper-v boot failure Staring a new thread, as I am getting a bit short on time and even shorter on patience. Let me begin by saying that I have called MS Support, and this is their suggestion, or eat up our annual critical ticket.....NICE! I have converted MANY servers, both 2003 and 2008 to Hyper V guests using Disk2Vhd. SO far so good. The http://myriadofthings.com/fix-error-loading-operating-system-after-disk2vhd-p2v-attempt/ current customer I have is running on a HP Proliant ML350 G5 server with i200 Smart Array card, raid 5 with 3 x 250GB. OS is server 2003 R2 SP2 x64 Enterprise edition. When I try and start the vm in Hyper V, I get "Error loading operating system" I have not had any suggestion as to what is ailing this conversion in this post: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winserverhyperv/thread/d3642e24-4e7f-484d-9dfe-ec902e292314 Just to highlight, there is no BSOD, this happens immediatley https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/eb0a4263-8d02-411b-9c99-d90fee464118/hyper-v-p2v-of-existing-2003-r2-sp2-x64-enterprise-for-use-in-hyper-v-r2-sp1-conversion-for-small?forum=winserverhyperv following the Hyper V splash screen. Tried repair install, does this on reboot. Tried fixmbr and fixboot. Tried installing Hyper V services on OS before grabbing vhd (sometimes this works when you get a snag in conversion) Removed all the HP software for server management. Image is taken with core services running, but exchange shut down for data sync. Please point me to some documentation on how to do the P2V that is supported that is NOT SCVMM, as there is ONE server. I have no need for a management suiet, nor does client. I just want to do conversion. The other thread suggests that Disk2vhd is not supported. huh... And keeping that in mind, I will do more conversions in the futire just like this....so what is your suggestion? Someone out there must have some insight into this. Please. Sometimes you can create a new VM on the Hyper-V machine and then migrate the services on the physical computer to the VM and it will make things easier. By the way, as I mentioned in your last thread, if you ask here, the answer is disk2v
