I'm not a developer at all, but I thought it would be fun to try and set myself up with a Linode VPS. I suspect that there is some sort of permissions problem. www-data is my php user. Could it be that www-data is lacking permissions? And how do I go about troubleshooting this? Denied Posted by admin on Jan 5, 2011 in Troubleshooting Question: I am using the PHP version, sendkeys not working in windows 7 why do I get error: Permission Denied Answer: This is what you check when you have "permission denied" error: The program files on your web server have improper permissions http://askubuntu.com/questions/147282/require-assistance-with-failed-to-open-stream-permission-denied-in or ownership settings causing the program not to read or write the files or folders the files are in, therefore you get a "permission denied" error. It does not mean the program has errors in the coding, it really just means that you now need to properly adjust some file and folder settings. This can usually be fixed http://www.fastsecurecontactform.com/error-permission-denied using your FTP program, or in some cases with a support ticket to the web server administrator. Try setting these folders permissions to CHMOD 0755 using your FTP program. (or on some servers 0777, but be careful with 0777, if 0755 works, no need to use 0777) /contact-files/ /contact-files/attachments/ /contact-files/settings/ /contact-files/captcha/backgrounds/ /contact-files/captcha/gdfonts/ /contact-files/captcha/temp/ /contact-files/captcha/ttffonts/ Note: If that does not fix it, there could be other folders with improper CHMOD permissions. Also it could be a problem with owner or group file attributes(CHOWN), in that case you should make a trouble ticket with your web host. I cant get cforms to attach files when sending permission denied a message. It has to do with the setting the absolute path and relative path/url. Ive tried setting the path to cforms/attachments folder but not working.. can you tell me what I'm doing wrong and suggest the paths i should be filling in?? Here is the error messages im getting: Warning: move_uploaded_file(/14-Naghman_Chaudry_Resum.doc) [function.move-uploaded-file]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in permission denied windows /home/username/public_html/mywebsite/wp-content/plugins/cforms/lib_aux.php on line 304 Warning: move_uploaded_file() [function.move-uploaded-file]: Unable to move '/var/tmp/phpkkrX0V' to '/14-Naghman_Chaudry_Resum.doc' in /home/username/public_html/mywebsite/wp-content/plugins/cforms/lib_aux.php on line 304 ("username" and "mywebsite" are replacements)
 jnoh 0 Advocate Members 0 486 posts Posted February 24, 2010 I'm gonna test this on my comp and get back to you.
