What Does Cyclic Redundancy Check Mean
weehawk, welcome to aD, A "CRC" error is most often caused by bad media - it could be any of the following: 1. A dirty disc, 2. A scratched disc 3. A poor quality disc (cheap media if it happens during the "Burn" section of your work) 4. A bad disc from the Mfgr. It can also be from a bad optical component in your drive. At this time I don't believe it's your drive at all. If you recently purchased this disc new from a store, I would return it as defective if just cleaning and the proper use of DVD Decrypter doesn't get the job done. I'd like you to check your DVD Decrypter's settings. First, it should be version 3.5.1.0. Go to "Tools", "Settings", set everything to "Default". Then in the "General" tab change, "Removal Method" from "Normal" to "Aggressive", in "File Mode", "tick" Remove PUO's." For ripping in the "ISO Read Mode", "tick" "Remove PUO's" there also. in the "CSS" tab, under "CSS Cracking Method", choose "Brute Force ~> I/O Key Exchange" and "On Failure" choose "Yes". . IMPORTANT: In the "I / O" tab, in the bottom right, "tick" the box which says, "Ignore read errors". This is an excel

Are the original http://forum.videohelp.com/threads/333596-Backing-up-using-the-DVD-Shrink dvd's retail store bought (pressed) ? Dvd Shrink is waaaaay old and has not been updated to deal with newer copy protections in YEARS as far as ripping is concerned!!!! If you are trying to open and rip them from your drive with Dvd Shrink that is probably your problem. Newer copy protections for pressed retail dsic's is updated many times a year. Rip with something that is updated on a regular basis to deal with newer copy protections like dvdfab decrypter then open with dvd shrink to transcode to fit on a SL dvdr. I guess what I need to know is... do I use the HD Decrypter to burn the main movie to the HD and then use DVD Shrink and then burn or write it from there to a DVD blank disc ? I don't drink, but after reading this post I understand why you would think

Dvd Shrink - Data Error : Cyclic Redundancy Check Started by spaceship9 , Jan 05 2008 03:52 PM Please log in to reply 1 reply to this topic #1 spaceship9 spaceship9 Members 47 posts OFFLINE cyclic redundancy check Local time:06:36 AM Posted 05 January 2008 - 03:52 PM I have DVD Shrink (latest) and I use it to make backups of (legally purchased) DVDs so the originals don't get damaged...So far I haven't had any errors with anything, with the exception of a largely scratched disk once... until nowI tried to backup "Inside Man" and it gets to around 2-4% (entire non-compressed disk backup, naturally) but then gives me DVD shrink has encountered an error and can not continue Fail to read file E:\ Data Error (cyclic redundancy check)I've searched around and it turns to either be a bad/scratched disk or a new security measure...The disk is brand new with no scratches, finger prints or anything on it, and the movie played with no errors or bad frames (as far as I noticed) in DVD X Player (on computer) and on a sony DVD player (tv).I've seen people try with success using DVD Decrypter but when i tried, I got errors once again...so I'm fairly certain it's a security measure (seeing as the drive is only a few days old and plays/backs-up anything else fine)...Any ideas?
