If there is a problem with the transfer and the data dvd decrypter does not match on both sides, then a cyclic redundancy check error will occur. This dvd decrypter download can happen in Windows while reading a disc or in any number of programs, including DVD Shrink. Possible causes include a scratched

Dvd Shrink Cyclic Redundancy Check Error Fix
1Rule out the optical drive (the DVD player on the computer) as the cause of the error by attempting to read other discs with the drive. If you're successful, the drive can be ruled out as the cause of the CRC error, leaving the disc as the culprit. The disc could be scratched or damaged, or it could've had copy protection against duplication written into it when it was burned. If the optical drive fails cyclic redundancy check dvd copy to read other discs, then there is likely some problem with the drive itself.Step 2Rule out the surface quality of the disc to be backed up. Even if it looks fine, check to make sure it plays or reads normally outside of DVD Shrink. The DVD could have been incorrectly burned. This happens often with cheaper CD and DVD media; it is rather rare with commercial DVDs. If you can rule out the surface quality of the DVD as a cause for the error, go to step 4. If not, see step 3 for information on attempting to clean the disc.Step 3Clean the faulty disc. It is possible for any amount of scratching, grime or residue to cause read errors. Use a disc cleaning kit, or use water or alcohol and a piece of cotton shirt. Make sure that you wipe against the tracks and not with them; wiping with the tracks can cause further damage.Step 4Having determined that the cause of the error lies in neither the drive nor the disc itself, there remains only one possibility: the cause of the error is the disc's encryption, or copy protection, of one type or another (several different types exist). Going any further in attempting to "crack" the encryption would likely violate copyright laws. In this case, if the DVD you want to back

Theres not much that can be done. Quote: P.S I do have NERO 6 so perhaps can try with that, but don't know where to start, THOUGHT that Shrink was the best program to do that. If your just doing a straight copy with no copy protection from one DVD to another, try Nero. Shrink is only necessary for compressing DVD9 to DVD5. __________________ AMD 64 4400+ X2 'Toledo' @ 2.6Ghz DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 SLI-DR Expert 2x 1024Mb DDR OCZ PC4000 Gold 2x Sparkle 7800GTX 256Mb DDR3 in SLI (513/1280) 2x Arctic NV Silencer 5 rev 3 120G Seagate SATA 250G Seagate SATA Benq DW1640 Swiftech Extreme Liquid Cooling Kit 24" Dell LCD Microsoft Vista Ultimate RTM v6 build 6000 04-02-2005 #3 JSD New on Forum Join Date: Jan 2005 Posts: 6 Re: DVD SHRINK PROBLEM: "Data error (cyclic redundancy check)

The error message I'm getting is Failed to read file E / Data error cyclic redundancy check. Before I was burning through Drive C with no problems now it will not complete the analysis process. I need cyclic redundancy check to know how to get back to burning or analysing through drive C. When I try to open file C, it says file can not be opened/found. Maybe the lens on your reader is dirty, have you tried running a cleaning disc in the dvd burner? Try and rip it with dvddecrypter first, to a folder, then point dvdshrink to the folder. This of course assumes you own the disk.. As a result, neither DVD Shrink or DVD Decrypter are able to cope with many current discs. While as SNGX1275 suggests, DV
Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue. Failed to read the file "D:\" Data error (cyclic redundancy check). I guess these few DVD's just have some extra security features that jam up the ripping process! Anyone familiar w/ this problem??? Disney movies seem to always do this. At the moment I was trying to rip Twilight (which I rented for my girlfriend), and it gave me that same error message. ^ 64k06-03-2010, 04:34 PMTwilight! well thats why it error'd the PC has better taste than your misses. I ALWAYS immediately rip my DVDs and BluRays so that I can play them on the computer and skip the damn commercials. If I want commercials, I'll watch public TV. If you have kids, it's even more imperative that you rip your DVDs and BluRays - the kids WILL destroy any disc you let them play within a few days. One time, I found the damn disc ON THE EFFIN ROOF!!! evildragon06-03-2010, 07:13 PMI usually use DVDFab to get around what DVD Shrink doesn't get.. Then if fab can't do it, there's another utility, but I don't like it and forget the name. It's on my laptop and I can check though. Sparksterz06-03-2010, 07:21 PMIf it had a crc error it's usually the case that the media is bad. In this case I'm guessing it may be scratched? evildragon06-03-2010, 07:25 PMIf it had a crc error it's usually the case that the media is bad. In this case I'm guessing it may be scratched? Normally yes. But I've seen some recent DVD's with improper filesystems, as it shows the DVD as like 90GB in size or something like that, which is impossible. MN12BIRD06-03-2010, 07:56 PMDVD Shrink only has basic (and out dated) DVD decryption built in. Any modern DVD should cause it to halt. You need a separate decrypter like AnyDVD to get around it. AnyDVD will run in the background in between your DVD Drive and software like DVD Shrink. Then as far as DVD Shrink is concerned there is no encryption on the DVD it's ripping. AnyDVD also works with HD-DVD and Bluray and it will not only get rid of any encryption/CRC errors it also gets around region coding and macro-vision. Since it runs in the background i
