Error: 54 Unspecified error. This is on Windows Server 2003. As you can see in the screenshot, the error isn't specifying the line or URL so it's not giving me much to go on. windows-server-2003 service share|improve script error firefox this question asked Nov 5 '09 at 13:33 Dave Forgac 2,19142844 Try accessing it from another computer and see if you have the same problem. If you don't, then I'd say it's an interface problem and not a server problem. Have you recently updated the server (like installing IE8)? Have you rebooted the server? –joeqwerty Nov 5 '09 at 13:40 Reboot: Yes. Update: No. IE install: No. –Dave Forgac Nov 5 '09 at 13:55 I later found that the user had upgraded the system to IE8 immediately before this problem started. Reverting to IE7 didn't correct the problem however. –Dave Forgac Jan 19 '10 at 4:07 add a comment| 4 Answers 4 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote accepted I found the IE 8 wasn't fully installed. It had supposedly installed with a group of Windows Updates. I even got the IE Welcome dialog but when I checked About it was IE 7. I did the download from MS but I'm not sure what actually kicked off the IE 8 Installation. Once IE 8 installed my error when away. share|improve this answer answered Sep 29 '10 at 15:45 user55645 add a comment| up vote 1 down vote To fix this issue download and i

It says it is an Internet Explorer Script Error. It says "An error has occurred in the script on this page." It does http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php?topic=76987.0 not list any Line, Char, Error, Code, or URL information. "Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?" Clicking either the Yes or No box does not remove the box, only clicking the red X on the top right does. And when this happens, there are a few dozen boxes that pop up at the same time so I need to close all of the boxes. This seems to happen for many programs when a message box is supposed to come up. For example, if I have received now mail on Microsoft Outlook, I am notified by getting dozens of these pop-ups instead of just a single message notifying me that I have new mail. When I go to the Norton Help & Support on the Norton Internet Security program, I also get these pop-ups. I can't even put my cursor over the registration submittal box for H&R Block Tax Cut without getting these boxes, and when I clear them on this program, a fresh batch pops up right away, so I can't even get passed the registration page and do my taxes!I cannot do a System Rest

Solved Group Policy Editor "Error:54 Unspecified Error" Posted on 2009-05-21 Windows Server 2003 Active Directory 1 Verified Solution 11 Comments 2,588 Views Last Modified: 2012-05-07 Experts, I have a particularly vexing problem with the Group Policy Editor on our domain controller running Windows script error 2003 Server. When trying to edit a group policy object (any and all policies have this problem, making me think it's a systemic problem), I get the error message I've included in the screen shot below. An Internet Explorer Scripting Error box shows up with all fields blank, and another very cryptic "Error: 54 Unspecified Error" box shows up. Quite a few instances will launch in series each time a different item is selected for script error windows editing within the policy. As far as I can tell, there's nothing in the event logs to give me any clues (Granted, I don't know what I'm looking for), the error message itself is useless, and I'm not having much luck finding information on this problem. What's going on here and how do I fix it? server-errror.jpg 0 Question by:mthomas4 Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 4 Best Solution bybarryhiggins3 o.k. dokey... I've done a bit of digging.... Try installing the Admin pack for your server onto a P.C. and and run an mmc, add the appropriate snap in and try edditing a policy from there. If it's Windows 2003 you are using you can get it here. http://www.microsoft.com/downloadS/details.aspx?FamilyID=c16ae515-c8f4-47ef-a1e4-a8dcbacff8e3&displaylang=en If you find this works, update your group policy management console. with the SP1 version http://www.microsoft.com/DOWNLOADS/details.aspx?FamilyID=0a6d4c24-8cbd-4b35-9272-dd3cbfc81887&displaylang=en That should hopefully sort it for you. 0 Message Author Comment by:mthomas42009-05-21 Thanks for the quick response, Barry. The Admin Pack works like a charm on my desktop. I'll check out that other link and let you
