Tags:script errorinternet explorer ansers4me April 6, 2014 at 01:23:21 Specs: Windows 7 Is this because I could have made some mistake? I'm working on how to get Silverlight working https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/308260 for Netflix and I can't get it to work. I typed some letters like inetcpl.cpl into the start menu a couple times and went through a process I found online but I got a warning that it could be damaging so I unchecked everything I did which wasn't much. I unchecked the protected mode in the Security section for a few minutes but checked it again. I clicked the SSL box http://www.computing.net/answers/security/why-does-script-error-keep-popping-up-in-internet-explorer/39641.html and didn't click the apply button. I only clicked apply when it was all back to where it was before. After that, Internet Explorer kind of froze. Maybe I got misleading online instructions. I had to get Task Manager to close it because the mouse wasn't working in IE. I haven't seen the Script Error box for ages. Now its on every screen nearly and its frustrating. Can't get rid of it. Your suggestions would be very much appreciated. Not sure which category but had to choose something. Maybe there is a security problem..not sure. Report • ✔ Best Answer Derek April 6, 2014 at 19:04:40 Go to Control Panel > Internet Options then you can make the changes without IE being open or running.Look at the settings I gave in #4 and if they are OK do the Reset:Internet Options > Advanced > Reset button. You will not lose your Favorites, just add-ons and any customizations you might have made. The add-ons soon come back with usage (Flash etc will ask) or you can collect any important ones.As last resort uninstall IE from "Control Panel > Programs and features" which will revert you to a previous IE
unless you are a web developer, you just don't care about these messages and don't want them to appear. Turning them off won't hurt the operation of any program, so here is how to turn off https://www.webbie.org.uk/scriptingErrors.htm scripting error messages in Internet Explorer. These messages say things like "Errors on this webpage might cause it to work incorrectly." The first thing to try is turning off these messages in Internet Explorer: https://www.windowsbbs.com/threads/internet-explorer-script-error-constantly-popping-up.100238/ Open Internet Explorer Open the Tools menu (Alt and T) Select the Internet Options item (O key) The Internet Options dialog has many tabs. You need the Advanced tab. Press Control and Tab until script error you get to the Advanced Tab (that's six presses for Internet Explorer 8) You should now be in a list, starting with Accessibility as the first item in Internet Explorer 8. This has the scripting options you want to change. Cursor down to "Disable script debugging (Internet Explorer)" and press Space until it is on. Cursor down to "Disable script debugging (Other)" and press Space until it is on. script error windows Cursor down to "Display a notification about every script error" and press Space until it is off. Press the Return key to close the Internet Options dialog. You should now have turned off the scripting errors. Not worked? Here are some other things you can try: Update Internet Explorer. You should be on the latest Internet Explorer, it's safer and better. You can get it from Windows Update. Start Internet Explorer, Alt and T for the Tools menu, then cursor down to Windows Update. Change your antivirus program. These cause no end of trouble. Set your Internet Explorer Security settings to Default. You do this again in the Internet Explorer Tools menu, Internet Options, Security tab, and click Default Level. Delete your Internet Explorer temporary files and cookies and history. Internet Options, General tab. This will mean you'll have to re-enter your username and password in places where you've saved it, so make sure you know them all before you try this. Still no good? There are two a Microsoft Support Knowledgebase Articles, How to troubleshoot script errors in Internet Explorer on Windows-based computers from which I've taken some of the above, and Fix runtime errors in Internet Explorer, which have more suggestions and approaches.

I had root kit on my computer late last year and after enlisting the help of people on this board my computer has never run faster. My current problem is related to a pop-up I keep getting. It always says "Internet Explorer Script Error" on the message bar at the top and then "An error has occurred in the script on this page." Then it proceeds to tell me the Line, Character, Error, Code, and URL regarding the specific error. The information on these lines is always different. Sometimes I get one and then I press "No" to stop running script on the page with no problem. Other times I get about 50 of the pop-ups in a row and it is incredibly annoying. The information on the "URL:" line leads me to believe the issue is related to the ads on some of the websites I go to are running a weird script that my computer doesn't like. I have a couple of screen shots and if I go to one of those sites where the ad constantly changes I'm sure it would produce more if that is something you need to see. I wasn't sure how to post the screen shots. I read something online about checking a box in "Internet Options" to "disable script debugging" but when I checked I realized that has always been checked. This issue popped up out of the blue on sites I always visit so I'm hoping it isn't a virus. If I need to run some checks I have all the software from the last time someone on here diagnosed my problem. Thanks.
