I've made quite a few changes and now I'm getting syntax errors in IE, but all is fine in Firefox. Obviously I have a trailing comma somewhere but I can't see it. IE's error message is less than helpful, not even telling me which JS file has the error. Is there a syntax checker for Javascript that will inform me of such errors in more detail? javascript debugging internet-explorer share|improve this http://stackoverflow.com/questions/559207/javascript-syntax-errors-in-ie question asked Feb 17 '09 at 23:33 Steve M 5,385124062 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 4 down vote accepted http://www.jslint.com/ will catch those comma and semicolon problems. The new debugging tools are a far cry from Firebug, but they should tell you exactly what the problem is in this case. share|improve this answer answered Feb 18 '09 at 2:42 Chase Seibert 10.4k43851 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Name Email discard By posting your answer, you agree to the privacy policy and terms of service. I viewed the problem in IE 11 with the debug tools (F12) and the following code was at fault; specifically when using parseFromString a 'Syntax Error' is thrown: if (window.DOMParser) { parser = new DOMParser(); tmp = parser.parseFromString(resp, "text/xml"); } Any script error message way I can work around this? javascript windows dom internet-explorer-11 share|improve this question edited Apr 11 '14 at 21:40 asked Apr 11 '14 at 21:33 Gedalya 3681718 What exactly is the error you get? –Pointy Apr 11 '14 at 21:34 The posted code should work fine in IE11 ? –adeneo Apr 11 '14 at 21:35 1 @adeneo maybe "parser" is otherwise undeclared. Without the error message itself, it's hard to say. (I wish I knew why it's not completely obvious that error messages should always be included in questions like this.) –Pointy Apr 11 '14 at 21:39 1 If you're getting a syntax error from the parser, it means you've got a syntax error in the text that you're parsing. –Pointy Apr 11 '14 at 21:40 1 No, whatever you put into the parser does not have the correct syntax, so the parser is working, it's telling you that your syntax is off. –adeneo Apr 11 '14 at 21:45 | show 2 more comments 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote For IE this works for me xmlDoc=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLDOM"); xmlDoc.async=false; xmlDoc.loadXML(text); source: http://www.w3schools.com/dom/dom_parser.asp share|improve this answer answered Nov 10 '14 at 9:03 Anshul Nigam 825421
