If you don't, then I'd http://serverfault.com/questions/81722/error-in-services-msc-error-54-unspecified-error say it's an interface problem and not a server problem. Have you recently updated the server (like installing IE8)? Have you rebooted the server? –joeqwerty Nov 5 '09 at 13:40 Reboot: Yes. Update: No. IE install: No. –Dave Forgac Nov 5 '09 at 13:55 I later found that the user had upgraded the system to IE8 immediately before this problem started. Reverting to IE7 didn't correct the problem however. –Dave Forgac Jan 19 '10 at 4:07 add a comment| 4 Answers 4 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote accepted I found the IE 8 wasn't fully installed. It had supposedly installed with a group of Windows Updates. I even got the IE Welcome dialog but when I checked About it was IE 7. I did the download from MS but I'm not sure what actually kicked off the IE 8 Installation. Once IE 8 installed my error when away. share|improve this answer answered Sep 29 '10 at 15:45 user55645 add a comment| up vote 1 down vote To fix this issue download and install the lastest IE8 from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-explorer/worldwide-sites.aspx and do not remove anything before doing so share|improve this answer answered Jan 21 '10 at 5:08 Syd add a comment| up vote 0 down vote I don't know if this helps, but here is a few explanations about what error 54 is on windows. # for decimal 54 / hex 0x36 : DEVICE_REFERENCE_COUNT_NOT_ZERO bugcodes.h MSG_DN_CERT_PENDING_WITH_INFO certlog.mc # Certificate S

Mr.HopelessTopic StarterRookie IE Script Error - opens script error as a pop-up for many programs « on: February 15, 2009, 04:35:41 PM » Ever since installing an updated Norton Internet Security (2008) last fall, I've had this annoying pop-up come up for many programs. It says it is an Internet Explorer Script Error. It says "An error has occurred in the script on this page." It does not list any Line, Char, Error, Code, or URL an error has information. "Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?" Clicking either the Yes or No box does not remove the box, only clicking the red X on the top right does. And when this happens, there are a few dozen boxes that pop up at the same time so I need to close all of the boxes. This seems to happen for many programs when a message box is supposed to come up. For example, if I have received now mail on Microsoft Outlook, I am notified by getting dozens of these pop-ups instead of just a single message notifying me that I have new mail. When I go to the Norton Help & Support on the Norton Internet Security program, I also get these pop-ups. I can't even put my cursor over the registration submittal box for H&R Block Tax Cut without getting these boxes, and when I clear them on this program, a fresh batch pops up right away, so I can't even get passed the registration page and do my taxes!I cannot do a System Restore, since when I run System Restore, I only get a blank System Restore window.I've tried reinstalling Inter
