The error is similar to the screen shot below:The error usually appears three times, then the tool opens successfully. Cause This is a known issue. There are two files in the ZIP file: MdDlgContent.xsl and MdDlgHelp.xsl. Unzip the contents of the ZIP file to the desktop or a desired location on the hard drive.4. In Windows Explorer, navigate to the Stylesheets folder in the ArcGIS installation folder. This is usually located at:C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\ArcToolbox\Stylesheets5. In the Stylesheets folder, rename MdDlgContent.xsl to MdDlgContent.xsl_old and rename MdDlgHelp.xsl to MdDlgHelp.xsl_old.6. When I try to use basic features from ArcCatalog I getlots of dialogs "error on page" and have to click "Run active X control"repeatedly. http://support.esri.com/technical-article/000011008 It's extremely frustrating. Here's one way to reproduce the problem I'm seeing.1. Establish a connection to some geodatabase.2. Right-click on that connection and pick Import, then Feature Class(single). 3. In the "Feature Class to Feature Class" dialog, click on the button "Environments...". The result for me is a new dialog: Internet Explorer Script Error An error has occurred in the script on https://geonet.esri.com/thread/10882 this page. Line: 131 Char: 4 Error: Invalid pointer Code: 0 URL: file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/clott/Application%20Data/ESRI/Desktop10.0/ArcToolbox/Dlg/MdDlgContent.htm Do you want to continue running scripts on this page? Anyhow I click "Yes". At the top of the Environment Settings dialog I now see "This website wants to run the following add-on: 'ArcGIS Product Version Library' from 'ESRI (unverified publisher)'. If you trust the website and the add-on and want to allow it to run, click here..." Heck I wasn't aware I was visiting a web site. Anyhow I click there and pick "Run ActiveX control", then a new dialog pops up "Internet Explorer - Security Warning" and on that dialog I click the Run button. Then the dialog "Internet Explorer Script Error" reappears and I go thru the whole process again. I did this about 10 times then gave up, I'm not an infinite loop processor. Does the process ever end? I am working on a Windows XP machine with the Internet Options securitysetting to "Medium High" which I suspect has to be scaled WAY back. Anyone else? Did I miss a critical note in the installation d

(e.g. Safari, Opera, Firefox, Chrome) ArcToolbox relies on Internet Explorer to function correctly; if this has become script error corrupt, uninstalled or replaced as the default internet browser, then toolbox functionality may be affected. We recommend installing the latest version of Internet Explorer that is available for your Operating System. If you are already running the lastest version, try setting it as your default Internet browser. If you still get blank toolboxes, you could try uninstalling and re-installing Internet Explorer, internet explorer script details of which can be found on the Microsoft Internet Explorer website.Another common fault relating to this issue is the width of the Help pane in the tool dialog becoming too wide, masking the tool's user interface. This is related to a specific registry setting, which you can check by perfoming the steps below:Please note: Making changes to the Windows Registry requires administrative rights on your machine, and can cause system instability if performed incorrectly. Esri UK does not accept any responsibility for issues arising from modifcations made to the registry. Please proceed at your own risk.1. Go to Start > Run and type in: regedit2. Go to HKEY_Current_User > Software > ESRI > Desktop 10.0 > ArcToolbox > Settings.3. Locate the binary value called DlgHelpWidth, right-click it, and choose Modify.4. Change the value data to cc. Click OK and close registry editor.Afurther cause of this error is related to the uninstallation of certain antivirus software (commonly McAfee, but also seen with Avast). When this software is uninstalled, certain files are removed but are not replaced with those originally installed by A

Since then, it seems I now get the same Script Error for import/export functions. However, I just tried to export to Geodatabase (multiple) and error did not pop up. I spoke with tech support and they could not help me so far. I really do not know much about GIS so it is hard for me to fix this problem and cannot proceed with some things. arcgis-desktop arcgis-10.2 geoprocessing esri-geodatabase share|improve this question edited May 1 at 3:02 PolyGeo♦ 39.2k1358148 asked Jun 18 '15 at 16:23 LynnR 63 Are you doing this through the GUI or by script. Is the exact script error "script error invalid pointer"? –artwork21 Jun 18 '15 at 19:35 1 There should be more to it than that... are you using 64bit background processing? That can give funny errors like this, perhaps turn it off (more about it here resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/index.html#/…). It is also possible that the error is 'in the past' so consider clearing your geoprocessing history (more here gis.stackexchange.com/questions/131405/…) –Michael Miles-Stimson Jun 18 '15 at 22:37 I have done it through ArcMap and ArcCatalog. Both ways it does it. That is the actual message. T
