Error when opening "User Accounts" Want to Advertise Here? Solved IE Script Error when opening "User Accounts" Posted on 2005-03-03 Windows XP 2 Verified Solutions 34 Comments 1,684 Views Last Modified: 2009-08-15 When https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/308260 I open Control Panel and click User Accounts, I get the following error message: Internet Explorer Script Error An error has occurred in the script in this page. Line: 4 Char: 1 Error: Access is denied Code: 0 URL: res://C:\Windows\system32\nusrmgr.cpl/nusrmgr.hta Do you wish to continue running scripts on this page? This happens _right after_ installing Windows XP Pro (volume lic. version) with slipstreamed SP2. I thought I https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/21336071/IE-Script-Error-when-opening-User-Accounts.html might have messed the slipstream up, so I downloaded a Windows XP Pro Retail /w SP2 ISO from MSDN subscriber downloads and formated/installed from this CD - Same error. Other clues: - The error message is mentioned in the knowledge base article KB886617, but for me it happens even if I double-click the icon only once. - The User Account dialog opens correctly after I click "Yes" or "No". - It happens only on the "classic" control panel view. It works without problems when I have "category view" enabled, open it from a shortcut on on my desktop, or manually enter the command into the run box. - I have not changed the PCs config since 4 months and have not noticed any other oddities. - I tried it with disabled DEP because it's an Athlon 64 (just to be sure) - made no difference. - The problem "disappeared" after a week (I just used the PC without installing anything new). The problem is... I want to install the volume license version again ;) I'm not even expecting a concrete solution, but some ideas what could be causing this would be nice. 0 Question by:synque Facebook Twitte
