play well with the current version 8 of Java. I downloaded and installed Java directly from the Oracle website and had the same problem: Quickbooks would say I needed Java, and then would shut down when I clicked "Java Installed." An answer to another question on these boards lead me to understand that QB works with Java 6. However, Java 6 for Mac was not distributed by Oracle and is not on the Java web site. I finally found quickbooks pro 2014 script error a version of Java 6 for Mac on the Apple support web site. It says it is for Lion, but I downloaded it and installed it on a brand new iMac running Yosemite. Quickbooks was finally able to register and I'm up and running.I could not paste the link to the Apple web site here for some reason. However, if you google javaforosx2014-001.dmg, the first link should be to the download page at Apple. Download and install. The other answer I found also mentioned deleting Java 8, which I did before installing Java 6. I don't know if it is necessary or not. You can try it without deleting Java 8 first and see what happens. Java 8's plugin can be found by clicking "Go" on the Finder menu bar while holding the "option" key down, then clicking on Library, then Internet Plug-ins, and then deleting the Java... file.
