It’s a friend’s machine so I will need to wait until after work to look at it again but here is what’s going on with it.The machine has 3 accounts on it and all of them have the http://www.sevenforums.com/browsers-mail/291394-windows-live-mail-showing-error-0x800ccc0d.html same problem. They are using Windows Live Email. When they try to get their email they get a socket error and it says it can’t find the pop server. The machine is connected to a linksys WRT54G router. They were having a wifi problem so I reset the router and set it up. After this the email stopped working. This machine has a history of this socket error. Almost every time there is a change on the machine email stops working. Here is the http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php?topic=115996.0 error…….Unable to send or receive messages. The host 'pop.mail.server.com' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly.Server: 'pop.mail.server.com' Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0DProtocol: POP3Port: 110Secure(SSL): NoSocket Error: 11004I have tried COX tech support without luck. I also bypassed the router and even loaded Thunderbird which got the same error. I uninstalled Macfee and shut down the firewall. I am able to login to the web mail account on the cox web page so I know I have the right account information. Other than resetting the router I made no changes to the machine until I started to try to fix it. All the accounts on the machine can get on the web just fine...its only the email that doesn't work.Anyone have any ideas? Thanks Logged Whenever I watch TV and I see those poor starving kids all over the world, I can't help but cry.
