All right H2G here's a conundrum for you. My .exe files won't open. Everytime I try to open one it says "choose the program you want to use to open this file." So I used my phone internet to search answers since I couldn't work mine. Long story short nothings worked. I opened Firefox by opening firefox then selecting firefox as the program to open firefox with. wtf right? Anyways sys32 is still there. I opened it to get to cmd cause it wouldn't open with run. I've tried -------------------- assoc.exe=exefile ---------------------- my computer said: ----------------------------- access is denied. Error occured while processing: .EXE. ----------------------------------------- I also tried making a batch file that says "assoc.exe=exefile" saved it as ( fileassoc.bat )then tried making another batch file that says "runas /user:USERNAME\administrator C:fileassoc.bat pause" It told me to enter admin pass, which i did then... ---------------------------------------------------------------- attempting to start C:fileassoc.bat as user "USERNAME\administrator"... RUNAS ERROR: Unable to run - C:fileassoc.bat 1326: Logon failure: Unknown user or bad password --------------------------------------------------------------- ok so a few things that would help to know: 1. I know i have correct username and pass. 2. This failure of exe files occurred immediately following the removal of the "win 7 home security 2012" virus 3. I used malware bytes to remove it. after removal i was prompted to restart my computer, which i did. 4. Then to double check it was gone I tried to run malwarebytes again.
