November 07, 2007 Deleting… Approving… The error description of 10048 error code is as following:Only one usage of each socket address (protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted.Usually this means that another application is binding to the port that WinSSHD is set to use (that's port 22 by default WinSSHD settings). If you're what is a socket error running Windows XP or newer, then in Command Prompt (cmd.exe) you can execute 'netstat -ano'. An example line:TCP 0.0.0.0:22 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING 1256It means that process with PID (process ID) 1256 has binded to all interfaces (0.0.0.0) on port 22, and is waiting for incoming connection (LISTENING). You can then open Task Managers (taskmgr.exe) and find the 1256 process that has taken the port that WinSSHD is set to use. Also, I would suggest an upgrade (however this is not at all related to the problem you're experiencing). Andrej Andolsek Wednesday, November 07, 2007 Deleting… Approving… Ok. I ran "taskkill /F /PID 3202" on my Windows 2003 Server, and that stopped the process that was using port 22.How can I see what process 3202 really is (more details)? I'd like to do some more troubleshooting on this. Also, when I uninstalled the software completely and reinstalled in my initial troubleshooting steps, I have lost the

Last modified by Remco Hermes on Jan 20, 2010 3:12 PM. OverviewBMC AppSight allows tracing networking operations. These operations will provide insight into the network activity of the traced application that uses bind error 10048 Winsock. These operations will return with different return values that don't necessarily represent a problem. Those errors will be displayed in the Comment tab, for example:This article describes the different return values you may encounter in each operation sub-group and possible reasons for them. Use the following reference table to access the operation type you are interested in:Accept connection Associate address Associate window Close socket Connect Create socket Get host info Initialize socket library Receive data Send data Send Request Socket listen Uninitialize socket libraryAccept connectionThis operation permits an incoming connection attempt on a socket.Possible ErrorsThe socket is marked as nonblocking and no connections are present to be accepted. (Error code 10035)This error is returned from operations on nonblocking sockets that cannot be completed immediately. It is a nonfatal error, and the operation should be retried later. It is normal for this to be reported as the result from calling connect on a nonblocking SOCK_STREAM socket, since some time must elapse for the connection to be established. The referenced socket is not a type that supports connection-oriented service. (Error code 10045)Th
