backup disk mount failure tdp vmware image snapshot disk GUI Technote (troubleshooting) Problem(Abstract) Using the http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21960303 Data Protection for VMware Recovery Agent Graphical User Interface an attempt https://kb.paessler.com/en/topic/1213-how-can-i-solve-an-error-10048-address-already-in-use-in-webserver-stress-tool to mount a disk fails with FBSP8016E because the TCP port 3260 is not available. Diagnosing the problem In the technical logs TDP_FOR_VMWARE_MOUNTnnn.sf messages like the following can be found: ******************************************************************** E18.ISCSILIB : Error binding port : 10048. E18.ISCSILIB : The target cannot bind to socket error the listening port 192.168.1.x:3260. E18.ISCSILIB : Failed to initialize new connection handler E18.ISCSILIB : MySan main thread returned unexpectedly E18.XPR MOUNT : test: failed to start iSCSI target I6.XPR MOUNT : FBSP8016E failed to mount ******************************************************************** iSCSI protocol typically uses TCP ports 860 and 3260 while the Windows socket error 10048 means that it is not bind the main possible to bind a connection to the port because the address is already in use. Resolving the problem Make sure port 3260 is open on any firewall between the system running Data Protection for VMware Recovery Agent the and the initiator. Check if other software installed is using the same port used by the Data Protection for VMware Recovery Agent iSCSI initiator. A common case could be the Microsoft iSCSI Software Target installed on the same system. In case the Microsoft iSCSI software target service is also running on the system, stop it and retry the mount of the iSCSI disk from the Data Protection for VMware Recovery Agent Graphical User Interface. Errors in Webserver Stress Tool For high traffic scenarios this message shows a problem on the workstation running Webserver Stress Tool. The IP stack can't create additional outgoing TCP/IP connections because it runs out of available socket numbers for the IP address(es) that you have configured in Webstress. This error occurs when your workstation cannot allocate new sockets. On Windows the default limitation is 5000 - 1024 open sockets (5000 is the default max user port setting and the first 1024 ports are reserved). You can increase the default maximum socket value in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/Tcpip/Parameters and add or modify the MaxUserPort value. See Also Microsoft article: "When you try to connect from TCP ports greater than 5000 you receive the error 'WSAENOBUFS (10055)'" The Cable Guy article: "Windows TCP/IP Ephemeral, Reserved, and Blocked Port Behavior" Add comment Created on Feb 24, 2010 9:10:15 AM by Daniel Zobel [Paessler Support] Last change on Sep 1, 2015 8:07:43 AM by Erhard Mikulik [Paessler Support] Permalink Please log in or register to enter your reply.
