Socket Error 10053
Join Date Sep 2006 Posts 2 Hi Everytime I try to go on the internet, this warning sign appears (a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark inside) saying CFSServ "Windows socket error". It won't allow me to go on my internet (which is broadband) I have been given some solutions such as putting the Windows XP CD into the CD drive and repairing every single file but the thing is, I never was given a Windows XP cd in the first place! As soon as I opened the box and set up the laptop, there was no windows xp CD. (I am typing this from my desktop computer) I would like any solutions on how to get rid of this problem. Thanks to anyone who helps. About 2 weeks ago I was having a problem with my internet connection. So, I restarted my computer. Before it restarted it did an automatic CHKDSK and started back up, and that's when it all started. It started up fine until after I logged in. It took about 5 minutes until I heard the startup tone. Until then it just showed the blank desktop image. Then, I saw an error message having to do with McAfee saying it had not been able to start. Finally, the desktop images came up. Then an alert came and said no connection found, when there's a perfectly working router in front of me. Then another alert said this "Microsoft .NET Framework" on top. In box it said, "An unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click quit, the application will be shut sown immediately. The operation completed successfully." I clicked quit. Then, again the McAfee alert came up saying, "McAfee Network Agent has encountered a problem and needs to close" and again, and again. After the fifth time there were no more. The last alert that came up said on top, "CFSServ" and in box, "Windows Socket Error" Then, I looked on the taskbar. There was an x on my Config-Free Local Area Connection icon. I then looked at the LAN icon. Is said, Wireless Network Connection (name of network) Speed: 54.0 Signal Strength: Excellent Status: Acquiring Network Address I then opened it and clicked view available wireless networks. None were shown. It said Windows cann
