The only incoming are my daily tech letters and a few http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-ecoms/windows-vista-mail-socket-error-10013-error-code/0cae368c-639a-4833-b7d4-0a05746e07f7 others. I use Mail Washer Pro so spam never gets to my PC's.This morning, I went to send an email and it was blocked with this error:"The connection to the server has failed. Subject '', Account: 'mail.bellsouth.net', Server: 'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E"Checked all my settings, rebooted the modem and PC, tried different accounts all with the same.My first http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r19382004-Comcast-blocking-SMTP-Port-25 call to Comcast was answered quickly and the rep told me I had a problem with "Outlook Express" and to call them. I explained that the problem was with Windows Mail and Outlook Express, 3 different PC's and that there was no such entity to call as "Outlook Express". He didn't like that and said the problem was mine and disconnected.Second call was answered promptly and this time the rep had me go to my Accounts/Properties/Advanced, and change the Outgoing SMTP from 25 to 587.She explained that it had been detected that I had multiple email accounts and this was being done for my protection.HUH!She said that having many accounts could lead to spamming by my PC and that if I reduced the amount of accounts, it might be changed back to Port 25. Again without notification.HUH! · actions · 2007-Nov-4 3:32 pm · NetWatchManPremium Memberjoin:2001-03-13Alpharetta, GA NetWatchMan Premium Member 2007-Nov-4 4:33 pm Your tcp/25 block probably has nothing to do with the number of smtp accounts you have...unless you are sending a high volume of outgoing email (or have outlook set to check every VERY frequently).Comcast's tcp/25 blocking is triggered dynamically when you generate a high volume of outg

Do you have plenty of storage remaining on the Comcast web mail server? What anti-virus program are you using? Is it configured to scan incoming and outgoing e-mails? What firewall are you using? Verify it is not blocking internet to the application or SMTP. Let us know what you find. EAFiedler, Jan 3, 2009 #2 larguy Thread Starter Joined: Sep 24, 2008 Messages: 12 Thanks for info from EAFielder. I verified my mail server settings and deleted and rekeyed. I enabled authentication (it was not previously on). I can login to Comcast web mail and can send and receive. I also can send and receive from Windows Mail -- but still cannot send from Windows Live Mail even with all of the above suggestions. I am using AVG (free) anti-virus program. It is configured to scan both incoming and outgoing message (the latter was not checked, but is now). I assume AVG is also my firewall?? If so, I am nor sure how to verify it is not blocking internet to the application or SMTP. Apparently, it is not doing so when I u
