For information, see the Handling Winsock Errors topic. The WSAGetLastError function returns the last error that occurred for the calling thread. When a particular Windows Sockets function indicates an error has occurred, this function should be called immediately to retrieve the extended error code for the failing function call. These error codes and a short text description associated with an error code are defined in the Winerror.h header file. The Format

Despite this good experiences, i encounter a strange situation now. I'm backupping a directory to a remote FTP site over internet. The situation worked fine but i switched the FTP site from a windows Serv-U to a linux proftpd server. I experience the Failed to copy source: Socket Error # 10065 while uploading (randomly during transfer), after uploading serveral hunderts files. The files are relatively small (2k files 200 MB total) I get Failed to copy source: Internal error: not connected to FTP server after the socket error, for each file to upload. The transfer is always successful when i upload all the files with a normal FTP client. Of course I realise that the problem might be in my FTP server configuration, but I simply ran out of potential solutions. What I?ve tried: - switching from passive to non-passive transfer. - opened the (iptables) firewall completely (for that ip address) - tried uploading to the backup site with a normal ftp client: WORKED! - adjusted passive ports on the server side. The strange thing is, that the upload never stops at the same point, and sometimes the upload is successful! (1 out of 5). The transfer is scheduled at night. The uploading site has an 1mbit upload rate and the downloading site 8mbit. Do you have some advice? Thanks in advance Top mickyj 2Brigh
