Ftp Socket Error 10053
I am new to this forum. But been a registered user for FlashFXP since 2003. I was wondering if anyone could explain or assist me with this issue I got. When I am doing my monthly backups of my
Ftp Socket Error 10060
websites. I get "timed out" errors and it's really a drag, since this causes my backup to take a long time to complete. For instance, I am currently uploading my "backup files" from my computer to a new FTP site. As I am just uploading files, it seems to always get stuck with ports: 28001 and 27909. (It may get stuck with others, but since the window on the lower right gets refreshed quite rapidly, I can't catch all of socket error 11004 ftp the ports, if any, that are also getting stuck.) When those ports get stuck, it then generates that the "connection timed out". (see a quote below of the error.) Quote: [R] PASV [R] 227 Entering Passive Mode (67,55,47,84,109,97) [R] Opening data connection IP: 67.55.47.84 PORT: 28001 [R] Data Socket Error: Connection timed out [R] List Error I am hoping to learn if there is anything I can do to fix this, so my backup and transfers get uninterrupted with these errors. (Below in my signature is my system info as stated in your "read me rules". Please let me know if you need more info.) My level of computer literacy and troubleshooting or following instructions is medium to advance. I am quite a fast learner and I am quite capable of following advance instructions. Thanks in advance. __________________ My System Info: App: FlashFXP 4.4.3 (build 2029) [registered] OS: WinXP Pro Router: Linksys WRT54G build 5 Firewall: COMODO Anti-Virus: AVAST Network: Broadband ISP: cox.net DJAndre View Public Profile Visit DJAndre's homepage! tests fine on from various FTP servers and to various FTP server. I encountered a problem today when using TLS security. The connection works fine but when trying to upload http://www.chilkatforum.com/questions/1258/failed-to-setup-passive-data-socket-error files I receive the error "timeout waiting for connect to complete" and "failed https://forums.techguy.org/threads/ftp-data-socket-connection-error.31555/ to setup passive data socket". I’ve also set the PassiveUseHostAddr property = true with the same result. passive ftp timeout failed asked Oct 17 '12 at 09:29 chilkat ♦♦ 11.5k●316●358●417 3 Answers: oldestnewestmost voted 0 The FTP protocol is such that data transfers (including directory listings) happen over a separate data socket error connection. Each transfer happens on it's own connection. The establishment of the data connection is often blocked by a firewall, which could be on the client-side, the server-side, or both. Usually, the simplest fix is to switch to non-passive mode (also called Active or Port mode). Do this by setting the ftp.Passive property = false (0). See this Chilkat blog post for Active vs. Passive ftp socket error Mode Explained. If that doesn't solve it, there are potentially many other settings that can play a role in FTP data connection establishment. The best guide for beginning to understand the settings is located here: Determining FTP Data Connection Settings link answered Oct 17 '12 at 09:35 chilkat ♦♦ 11.5k●316●358●417 0 One follow-up question. The upload works fine when not using TLS security. I only get this error with TLS enabled. Will your suggested fix still be applicable since it works in passive mode without security? link answered Oct 18 '12 at 18:48 chilkat ♦♦ 11.5k●316●358●417 0 See the information at these web pages. I get this error every once in awhile, and I usually just ignore it and come back later, but now I'm curious. I've done multiple searches and can't find a FAQ or tutorial anywhere that discusses FTP errors in detail. Thanks. twn_magnum, Feb 24, 2001 #1 Mr. Fido Joined: Apr 3, 2001 Messages: 16 I have the same problem. I use CuteFTP and I get the following message: Failed to establish data socket. I've tried about 10 times already and I am always unsuccessful. One important fact: I'm home on a PC and I'm trying to hook up to a Macintosh server at the office. I'm told however that this shouldn't be a problem... Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you. Now it works perfectly. Mr. Fido, Jan 12, 2003 #3 vpn Joined: Sep 8, 2002 Messages: 123 when getting that error, which is a technical way of saying, "you got dissconnected from the server," either enable or disable passive mode, and that will fix the problem. every server config is different, some you may have to use it, some you may not have to. all depends on the server. vpn, Jan 12, 2003 #4 This thread has been Locked and is not open to further replies.
