Socket Error 10060 Connection Timed Out Windows 7
2014 11:12 PM Hi, are you able to login to your Cox Webmail and send/receive emails OK? Also, you can change the server setting by removing "central" from both the pop server and the smtp server: so, pop.cox.net and smtp.cox.net Also, do you have an Anti-virus program that is integrated into the email client you are using? You may need to remove it from your email client. Mike J. Cox Support Forums Moderator Reply 0 Kudos Posted by Ticked
Socket Error 10060 Msdn
Off! 17 Jul 2014 11:40 PM Thank you for your timely reply! I have tried removing the "central" from the server settings but did not do any good. I haven't tried from the web mail app, but will do so, and I will check the AV settings then let you know. Reply 0 Kudos Posted by Ticked Off! 18 Jul 2014 12:06 AM Well, it appears as if the webmail app will allow me to send and receive. I have checked my AV settings for e-mail protection and there are none. Reply 0 Kudos Posted by Health Edge 18 Jul 2014 5:42 AM Where are you sending from? Alot of time you get that error if your not sending from a home/Cox network. Work? Friends? Out of country? Just in general. If you are away, you want to change your outgoing settings to use authentication on outbound with SSL on port 465 or 587. I will wait for specific instructions until I know Im on the right track. I am not a moderator or employee of Cox in any way. Anything I say should be treated as such. Reply 0 Kudos Posted by Ticked Off! 18 Jul 2014 8:13 AM I wondered about that as well, I am at a hotel. Reply 0 Kudos Posted by Ticked Off! 18 Jul 2014 8:27 AM I changed the authentication setting and still no luck.

the following: The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'you@YourHostedDomain.com', Server:'smtp.YourHostedDomain.com', Protocol:SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): NO Socket error: 10061, https://support.discountasp.net/kb/a304/i-can-receive-email-but-i-cannot-send-outgoing-mail.aspx Error Number: 0x800ccc0e This error usually indicates the failure of your email program to connect to port 25, the SMTP (outgoing mail) port. One of the following is the likely cause of this problem: Your firewall blocks SMTP connections to an internet mail server. Consult your firewall documentation or network administrator for details. Your Internet Service socket error Provider (ISP) does not allow SMTP connections to an internet mail server. Most large ISPs now block port 25 in an effort to prevent spam. If you believe that this is the cause of your error, you will have to configure your email program to use your ISP's SMTP server. Consult your ISP's technical support or FAQ regarding socket error 10060 SMTP usage. If you use one of the ISPs listed below, try the corresponding SMTP setting to see if it remedies the problem. If it does not, contact your ISP for SMTP settings. If you cannot find the SMTP server for your ISP, or do not have access to it, you can use smtp.YourHostedDomainName.com through port 587.
