drag, since this causes my backup to take a long time to complete. For instance, I am currently uploading my "backup files" from my computer to a new FTP site. As I am just uploading files, it seems to always get stuck with ports: 28001 and 27909. (It may get stuck with others, but since the window on the lower right gets refreshed quite rapidly, I can't catch all of the ports, if any, that are also getting stuck.) When those ports get stuck, smg socket error 10060 connection timed out it then generates that the "connection timed out". (see a quote below of the error.) (Below in my signature is my system info as stated in your "read me rules". Please let me know if you need more info.) My level of computer literacy and troubleshooting or following instructions is medium to advance. I am quite a fast learner and I am quite capable of following advance instructions. Thanks in advance. __________________ My System Info: App: FlashFXP 4.4.3 (build 2029) [registered] OS: WinXP Pro Router: Linksys WRT54G build 5 Firewall: COMODO Anti-Virus: AVAST Network: Broadband ISP: cox.net DJAndre View Public Profile Visit DJAndre's homepage! I receive the error "timeout waiting for connect to complete" and "failed to socket error errno 110 connection timed out setup passive data socket". I’ve also set the PassiveUseHostAddr property = true with the same result. passive ftp timeout failed socket error 10060 eol connection timed out asked Oct 17 '12 at 09:29 chilkat ♦♦ 11.5k●316●358●417 3 Answers: oldestnewestmost voted 0 The FTP protocol is such that data transfers (including directory listings) happen over a separate data connection. Each https://www.flashfxp.com/forum/flashfxp/general-discussion/12586-data-socket-error-connection-timed.html transfer happens on it's own connection. The establishment of the data connection is often blocked by a firewall, which could be on the client-side, the server-side, or both. Usually, the simplest fix is to switch to non-passive mode (also called Active or Port mode). Do this by setting the ftp.Passive property = false (0). See this Chilkat blog post for Active vs. Passive Mode Explained. If http://www.chilkatforum.com/questions/1258/failed-to-setup-passive-data-socket-error that doesn't solve it, there are potentially many other settings that can play a role in FTP data connection establishment. The upload works fine when not using TLS security. I only get this error with TLS enabled. See the snippit below. I have a customer who can't get logged into FTP on the server, keeps getting the Connection timed out error. Passive ports are set on the pureftp config file, they are open in the firewall. I can connect using Flashfxp just fine (She is also using Flashfxp). I never get any errors connecting connection timed out to it, but they can't get in, they were able to login a couple of days ago though. It's not I am getting an error code to work with either! If you first encountered thiserroreither when firstestablishing the connection or when starting a file transfer, then it maybe necessary to change the data connection type. CuteFTP usespassive (PASV) mode by default but for this remote server you may need to use active (PORT) mode instead. To make the switch from PASV mode to PORT mode in CuteFTP Home, open the Site Manager and click once on the the name of the problem site on the left side of the window. On the Type tab change the Data Connection Type to Use Port. If you are using CuteFTP Pro, in the Site Manager, right-click on the name of the problem site and click Site Properties. On the Type tab, change the Data Connection Type to Use Port. Note: If changing the data connection type has no effect then you should return this setting to the default of Use global settings. If the error occurs after the initial FTP connection has been established (successful authentication on the remote FTP server) but before any data has been received from the remote FTP server, then the needed data socket (port or channel) is being blocked by your firewall.
