If you still receive a 10060 error, the server may be trying to send a listing for a very large directory (with many thousands of files) causing the client to time-out while waiting. A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond. Please keep in mind that Winsock Errors are Microsoft Windows Sockets (TCP) errors, not DameWare socket error error, and typically when a Winsock 10060 error is reported it's typically either due to an improperly configured Firewall (hardware or software), a Names Resolution issue, or even improper routing within your network implementation (especially when VPNs or multiple NICs are involved). These configuration issues then cause the TCP Socket to timeout, which then causes error code 10060 the Winsock 10060 error to occur. Unfortunately, there are no settings within our software that would either cause, or prevent a Winsock 10060 error (or any other Winsock error) from occuring. However, here are some things you can try: First make sure that all routers & firewalls between the Local & Remote Machines, and any firewall software on the remote machine itself (i.e. Windows Firewall for SP2 or Vista, etc..) are properly configured to allow the necessary traffic to pass through. Description This message means that TN3270 Plus has sent communication to the host computer and the host computer did not respond before the end of the timeout period. The timeout period is monitored by the Windows socket, when the end of the timeout period is reached the Windows socket indicates the error to TN3270 Plus and TN3270 Plus reports the error. This message is normally caused by one of the following: 1.An incorrect IP address or Host Name in the "Connect to Host" dialog box. 2.An incorrect port number specified in the "Connect to Host" dialog box. 3.A proxy server or firewall is blocking communication between TN3270 Plus and the host computer. 4.Your network uses a VPN (Virtual Private Network) and the VPN is not connected.Try pinging the host computer to see if it is responding. You can this from the Windows command prompt (Start, All Programs, Accessories, Command Prompt) by entering "ping hostname" or "ping IP address" on the command line. If Ping times out, there is a problem at the host. Talk to a network administrator at the host site and see if they can help you. TN3270 Plus is continually being improved.
