Solved [10057] Socket is not connected (IIS, Server 2003 SBS, ASP, ASPMail, SMTP) Posted on 2008-06-02 Email Protocols ASP Microsoft IIS Web Server 1 Verified Solution 2 Comments 1,794 Views https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ms740668(v=vs.85).aspx Last Modified: 2013-11-30 I am building a new ASP web site via IIS on a Windows Server 2003 Small Business Edition system. This system also runs Exchange and is a domain controller. My goal is to utilize ASPMail to send automated e-mails via ASP code on this server. One additional note is that the default SMTP server that comes with IIS is not running and CDONTS doesn't seem to be installed (I https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/23451277/10057-Socket-is-not-connected-IIS-Server-2003-SBS-ASP-ASPMail-SMTP.html attempted to use CDONTS and the object could not be created.) I first suspected that the error I am recieving ("Mail send failure. Error was [10057] Socket is not connected") was related to settings in Exchange not properly allowing me to relay using ASPMail. However, I have attempted to use another remote e-mail server that I know is setup properly to use ASPMail as it is serving SMTP services to many scripts using ASPMail already...and I get the same error. :( For this reason, it would seem to me that something is blocking me from doing any such actions from ASP. My problem is that I cannot figure out what would be needed to allow this. After I got the same error using a different email server, I ran out of stuff to look at due to my lack of knowledge in this area. The attached code snippet is the exact code I am using to test this. I have setup the remote host to allow relaying from the IP address of the web site I want to send automated e-mails from. I get the exact same error if I change the RemoteHost to the local Exchange Server. I have successfully installed ASPMail (.dll reg) on the server using regsvr32. Set Mailer = Server.CreateObject("SMTP

Winsock Error Codes All MailSite Network I/O errors report a number that is a standard Winsock error code. Following is a comprehensive list of Winsock error codes in numerical order with a technical description for each: 10004 - WSAEINTR - Interrupted function call. A blocking operation was interrupted by a call to WSACancelBlockingCall. 10013 - WSAEACCES - Permission denied. An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions. An example is using a broadcast address for sendto without broadcast permission being set using setsockopt(SO_BROADCAST). 10014 - WSAEFAULT - Bad address. The system detected an invalid pointer address in attempting to use a pointer argument of a call. This error occurs if an application passes an invalid pointer value, or if the length of the buffer is too small. For instance, if the length of an argument which is a struct sockaddr is smaller than sizeof(struct sockaddr). 10022 - WSAEINVAL - Invalid argument. Some invalid argument was supplied (for example, specifying an invalid level to the setsockopt function). In some instances, it also refers to the current state of the socket - for instance, calling accept on a socket that is not listening. 10024 - WSAEMFILE - Too many open files. Too many open so
