I have several plugins
Notepad++
installed and the error message doesn't give much clue of what the problem is. After clicking OK the video plays normally however I did not get any subtitles displayed. Turns out the .srt file
Subscene
was missing a decimal. The error message isn't very HTPC friendly and doesn't help the user understand what's going on. Proposal: Skip the Windows popup window and instead display a message in MediaPortal's GUI which mentions that the subtitle won't be loaded. Even better would be if the subtitle reader could be smart enough to add the missing decimal Steps to Reproduce: Play a video with an external subtitle file that's missing a decimal like in this example: Code (Text): 1 00:00:05,000 --> 00:00:07,000 No problem with this line. 2 00:00:08 --> 00:00:13,000 This line will make MP throw a Syntax Error message box. Notice the missing ",000" on the second line. Attached log files and a sample .srt subtitle file. Before now there have been no problems, I have also previewed the other episodes and they are fine as well. What's happening is when I start up the episode there are either no http://forum.team-mediaportal.com/threads/syntax-error-in-line-xxxx.109516/ subtitles or Media Player Classic gives me this error: VSFilter: Syntax error at line 1097. I figure this means something on line 1097 of the subtitles is not in the right format...so I looked a the file...since I didn't want to count 1097 lines I put it in word and did some math (57 lines per page) I ended up with page 19 around line 25. Nothing seems off here at all to me... http://www.d-addicts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=71051 Also, I have tried re-installing vobsub multiple times with different version. I got the k-lite codec set... Could someone please help me fix this? I'd like to finish the series... If there is anymore information you need please ask I will get it to you ASAP. Thank you! I have a .srt file not sure how to add it in. If you are playing back on a PC, use a player like VLC or MPC. Name the subtitles the same as the movie file, put it in the same folder, and these players will just pick it up. e.g. movie01.avi, movie01.srt If you are playing them on a Divx capable standalone player, name them the same (as above), and burn then together on the same disc. Use the subtitle button on your remote to turn them on and off. If you are converting to DVD, use an authoring tool/converter that can read SRT subs. Most will create soft-subs like a regular DVD. The player (capable of reading Divx) says "error". the file names are like "aaaa-bbbb-.2000.ddv-ccc.Xvid", means very strange names. Is this a reason for error? Some players can get touchy about names. Having more than one period (.) in the file name can be enough to cause issues. Read my blog here.
