1,517 Posts I know I'm having a hardware issue but I'm not sure which part is the culprit. Win 8.1 i5-2500k CPU Asus P8Z68-VPRO Motherboard 8 GB G.Skill RAM Radeon HD 6970 PNY Optima SSD, OCZ Vertex SSD, Seagate HDD Xonar DX Sound Card FirePower ModXStream https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1433765 Pro 700W 80Plus (my first guess to the culprit) 6 Fans, not sure on the RPM, Chassis is a NZXT Phantom So, I was recently playing video games when all of a sudden my screen went black, then came back with the screen shifted http://cpu.over.temperature.error.asus.rampage.winfaults.net/ to the left and wrapped around, so 1/3 of the screen from the left was on the right side of my computer. I turned off the monitor, unplugged and replugged the cord in, still persisted. Then, the screen went black, and I restarted the temperature error computer. When I restarted, the mobo POST screen while booting up had garbled text, and then turned off. The computer wasn't that hot but I waited a bit, cleaned a small amount off dust out in the meantime, and rebooted. While booting up the POST screen said I had a CPU Temp Overheat error, and in the BIOS it said CPU temp was 165° F. I turned the computer off, felt the CPU and it was room temperature. Turned it back on, same error. Went to BIOS cpu over temperature and then went to Windows, screen showed my desktop briefly, then went all vertical lines on me, and the computer turned off. Rebooted, skipped the CPU Temp error, and it gave me a blue screen saying Windows didn't recover properly, I clicked restart and the computer turned off mid boot. A bit of history on the computer, I bought the power supply in 2013 to replace a non functioning one but the CPU, Video Card and Mobo I bought in either 2012 or 2011. I bought the OCZ Vertex 4 SSD in 2013, and recently bought the PNY Optima SSD a few months ago. I've had the HDD for years now, and ran it concurrently with the OCZ and now it runs along with the PNY, so 3 Drives in total. The Xonar DX is for my surround sound setup. I'm thinking that it's the power supply mainly because it's only 700W and it's cutting it close, but with the CPU Overtemp and the Graphical glitches I'm not sure if the video card or CPU is involved. Hell, it could be the mobo too, I'm not really sure. If it was the power supply I'm surprised I haven't had any errors before as I use it daily for video games. Any ideas?
