It will take me to the Advanced page where you control CPU speed options. I have an Athlon XP 1600 but the system tells me temperature error this "During the last boot-up, your system hung for an improper CPU setting. Your system is now working in safe mode. To optimize the system performance and reliability, make sure the CPU speed conforms to the specifications of your CPU." I have the processor set at 1400mzh but when it automatically goes into BIOS, it has it set at 1050mhz and tells me to choose from 1050, 1400, or manual. I have tried manual but cpu speed error the frequency mulitiplier isnt unlocked and even in manual I still get this error. Any input is greatly appreciated. If so, set it to 133. Also I dont know much about that board, but is there jumpers on the board to set the FSB? If so, those need to be set to 133. Edit: Look at pages 18 and 19 of your manual and check to see if you have the jumpers set properly. #4 minendo, Jan 26, 2002 Metalloid Diamond Member Joined: Jan 18, 2002 Messages: 3,064 Likes Received: 0 So you are saying that if I go out of Jumperfree mode and set the DIP switches to 10.5 frequency and 133fsb I wont get that anymore. Sometimes it would reset but now it won't. I have to unplug and try to boot. Sometimes it will boot but it takes a few tries. Usually if it doesn't boot it will take me into BIOS and give me two different error messages. The most common is " during boot the computer hung due to an improper CPU speed". The second tells me to check the error message in the power setup, but there is no explanation there. I am running Windows XP. I have not made any changes to my system except for a new mouse about a month ago. Please help! 2 3/4/2007 (4:34 am) by wkuagr wkuagr (328 Posts) First, please post what make and model of system you have. Does it happen to be special build? If so, sometimes you need to go set the specs. in the BIOS. The major brands are much less frequent, but I have seen it happen, particularly with a RAM or CPU upgrade, but very rare. Also, you may want to reset the CMOS by removing the battery or the jumper. Once again, have you done anything to disturb the original specs? Let us go from there. 3 3/5/2007 (11:30 pm) by Alex Charron Alex Charron (264 Posts) Dying CMOS battery? 4 3/6/2007 (2:15 pm) by Will Will (2088 Posts) Check for updates for your particular computer type---especially BIOS updates. This type of issue was well known in some HP and Compaq---and even Toshiba computer makes. There were several after market updates for various computer types in regard to the issue you make note. There may be a BIOS update to fix the issue. Check with your computer manufacturer on line before you delve to far into other possible causes. You may want to see if there are related settings in the BIOS for this...if you notice, I'm leaning toward BIOS issues because of your error me
