at 0x####### referenced memory at 0x####### . The memory could not be read. Most Viewed Article There could be several reasons for this Windows error message to occur. Please follow the instructions below. 1) Update drivers and install latest patches Make sure that all the latest Windows patches and service packs are installed. There have been several times when the referenced memory errors were being caused by Windows and not anything else. Also make sure video, hard drive, chipset and network drivers are up to date. Those are usually the main culprits for this type of error. It’s also a good idea to update the BIOS to the latest version. 2) Disable Background Applications The most common cause of this error is a background application interfering with the Viewer. In order to fix this please try the following: Shut down all other running applications and then try opening the document again. Disable all Windows start-up programs (including your anti-virus, anti-spyware and firewall applications) - see http://www.groovypost.com/howto/performance-disable-startup-programs-windows-7-vista/ and reboot your computer. If you can now open the document succesfully then one of these applications is interfering with the Viewer application. You will need to enable each application one by one to see what is the conflicting program. Disable various services - see http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/2495-services-start-disable.html and http://www.techknowl.com/disable-unwanted-services-and-speed-up.html. Disable as many unnecesary services as possible, reboot the computer, and then try opening the document again. 3) Run the System File Checker Another possible solution is to run the built-in system file checker program that comes with Windows. You can run it by going to Start > Run and typing in cmd. At the prompt, type the following command: sfc /scannow Then, press Enter. This will scan all the Windows system files and replace any corrupted or deleted ones.
