My parent's computer is continually getting Application Error pop up messages. The error reads: "The instruction at "0x000000000" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read". Click OK to terminate program." It seemingly has no pattern as the instruction at to the programs it effects. It has effected bootup files (logonui) and application files (word) and installation files (setup). Thinking it was a virus of some sort my dad bought Norton 20004 Professional. After doubtfully installing it. I attempted to run it and the program won't even open. Please help as much as possible. Nov 15, 2003 #1 RealBlackStuff TS Rookie Posts: 6,503 Open up that PC, make sure you are "grounded/earthed", and remove the memory-sticks. clean the contacts with an eraser and blow away the remnants. Reinsert the memory. Restart PC. If you still have problems, go to http://www.memtest86.com/ and download/run that memtest (preferably over a longer period. Nov 17, 2003 #2 bltassoc TS Rookie Did you ever find out what was causing the referenced memory errors. I have been getting them at work. Our tech support ran a full hour memory test on the machine and it passed with flying colors. I've gone on Google and found it occuring in many different applications (there can't be that many bad memory chips out there

Error message: Instruction at 0x0000000 referenced memory at 0x0000000 Started by cornflake , Mar 10 2013 06:29 AM Please log in to reply 2 replies to this topic #1 cornflake cornflake Members 6 posts OFFLINE Gender:Male Location:GB Local time:02:45 PM Posted 10 March 2013 - 06:29 AM At shutdown, I get a message which says: Instruction at 0x0000000 referenced memory at 0x0000000. The memory could not be "read". I understand this could be a registry error and that there is software designed to rectify the problem. However, much of this software comes with a red warning from MyWot and when I have attempted to download software my AVG anti-virus warns me of a trojan. Does anyone know of a safe method of correcting this error? Thanks in advance. Assuming that it "could" be "a registry error", there is no guarantee that any software you might try...will overcome such. From what I see...a good place to start would be your browser addons, I suggest disabling such and seeing if the error persists. IME (limited though it may be), this error can also be the result of adware/spyware or more malicious malwre. Moving topic to Am I Infected forum. Louis Forum Rules Report Topics
