This error can sometimes be generated when: • You are using the FileMakerPro Show event to find records in applescript increase timeout a large database • FileMakerPro presents a dialog box waiting for the scripter's (user's) response • An event takes a long time to occur, such as opening a networked file when there is heavy network traffic. To prolong the amount of time AppleScript waits for a response: Use the "with timeout" statement. An example of such a statement that increases the wait time to five minutes is: tell application "FileMakerPro"with timeout of 300 secondsShow (every Record whose Cell "Product" contains "FileMakerPro")end timeoutend tell Was this topic helpful? I have come up with the below applescript for a project here at work. Basically this applescript is used to open pdfs in full screen mode, display them for set lenght of time and rotate continously. It is intended for this script to never http://www.filemaker.com/help/12/fmp/html/create_script.13.16.html stop unless the machine is rebooted. Every 30 minutes or so, the script closes the pdf windows and goes out to a share drive to get updated copies, that it then copies to local drive, replacing the ones there already. My question or problem is thus, I have been getting Appleevent Timed out Errors and would like to https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5116660?start=0&tstart=0 know the best way to avoid or deal with these and have script to either start over or continue executing but not just stop dead in its tracks. The last line I got an AppleEvent Timed out error on was execute menu item "FullScreenMode"but i have received it elsewhere in the script also.Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.set intcount to 0tell application "Adobe Acrobat Pro" execute menu item "FullScreenMode" repeat try tell application "Finder" set intcount to intcount + 1 set source to "Operations:Production_Schedule_pdf:PSchedule.pdf" set source2 to "Production:Maintenance Planner (C.Slasor):Presentations_pdf:DowntimeData.pdf" set source3 to "Production:Maintenance Planner (C.Slasor):Presentations_pdf:MaintSchedule.pdf" set home_path to home as text set destination to home_path & "Documents:" if intcount = 15 then duplicate file source to folder destination with replacing duplicate file source2 to folder destination with replacing duplicate file source3 to folder destination with replacing set intcount to 1 end if end tell on error rotateLocally() end try tell application "Adobe Acrobat Pro" open ("/Users/drivord/Documents/PSchedule.pdf") if intcount = 1 then execute menu item "FullScreenMode"

I'm trying to accomplish the following: 1. enable screensaver to start with a delay of 15 minutes2. enable password on wake I've written the scripts to do this: 1.defaults-currentHost write com.apple.screensaver idleTime 9002. osascript-e 'tell application”System Events“to set require password to wake of security preferences to true' I have been successful to get this to run on my mac without any issues. i've tested by disabling and then running the script and it works well. I tried pushing this out to the second mac, and it runs successfuly according to KACE 1000 appliance, but doesn't actually change the settings in the mac. I spent some time trying to make that work by testing some more, then found if I run the scripts manually on the Mac, then run the KACE script, its successful. Kind of defeats the purpose if I have to run around to the 125 macs we have to push this script out. Does anyone have thoughts that might drive me in the right direction? Below is the order of the scripts running for me: Verify Launch“”with params“”System Events“”/usr/bin\osascript-e 'tell applicationto set require password to wake of security preferences to true' Launch“/usr/bin\defaults”with params“-currentHost write com.apple.screensaver idleTime 900”. I've found that using online shell scripts work a lot better when working with the macs. I found this on the 'net but can't remember its source and give credit to that person. Maybe it will help? #!/bin/sh# HARDCODED VALUES ARE SET HEREstartTime="900"password="1"passwordDelay="Immediately"# CHECK TO SEE IF A VALUE WAS PASSED IN PARAMETER AND, IF SO, ASSIGNif [ "$4" != "" ] && [ "$startTime" == "" ];thenstartTime=$4fiif [ "$5" != "" ] && [ "$password" == "" ];thenpassword=$5fiif [ "$6" != "" ] && [ "$passwordDelay" == "" ];thenpasswordDelay=$6fi#########
