Your Session Has Timed Out Code 5107
PCWorld Jun 30, 2009 2:24 PM Whenever I try to buy something from iTunes or redeem a gift code, I invariably get this message: Session Timeout. Then I have to apple id session has timed out for your security "try again," which sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. What's particularly annoying is that this error occurs even when I've just fired up iTunes. How can there be a "timeout" when I just started the program?! Fortunately, there's a reasonably easy fix, one involving, believe it or not, the system clock. Here's what to do (in Vista--the steps should be your session has timed out apple id verification similar in XP): 1. In the System Tray, right-click the time and choose Adjust Date/Time. 2. Click the Internet Time tab, then the Change Settings button. 3. iTunes is balking because your system clock is out of sync. Therefore, you need to synchronize it with an Internet time server. Alas, time.windows.com almost always produces an error, so click the Server pull-down and choose one of the other options. (I've had good luck with time-b.nist.gov.) 4. Click Update now and wait a few seconds. You should see a message confirming the clock synchronization. If not, try again, or select a different server and then try. 5. Click OK to exit, then head to iTunes and try your purchase/code redemption again. This time, it should work! So, think this is another case of Apple messing with Windows users? Somehow I don't think this problem exists on Macs. Hmmm. Could this be the Apple limit on accounts thru our District IP issue? BTW - If I do get this to work it will be AWESOME! Right now I have two users, a separate invitation and purchasing account for each. When they try to accept the VPP invitation, they are presented with the Terms screen, and tap "Accept". Then it only says "Your session has timed out. Try again." I've tried all the solutions I found on the Apple support forums. On the iPads I tried moving the date ahead, moving the date back, signing out/in to iTunes and iCloud, and tapping "Send by email" on the terms screen (which results in "unable to send email"). Then I sent the invitation via email and tried to redeem it on the computer. I signed out of iTunes and clicked the link in the email and.... same error in the iTunes desktop app.) During this same time period I have had other users be able to accept the VPP invitation. Edit: the account CAN download apps directly from the App Store without issue. It's only erroring o
