If the mail server is different from your web server (i.e. not localhost) I'd check with your hosting provider whether they enabled some sort of firewall that blocks connections on the SMTP port (port 25 usually). Mailjet › Support › FAQ › SMTP https://www.mailjet.com/support/why-am-i-getting-a-connection-timed-out-error,516.htm Relay › Why am I getting a ‘Connection Timed Out’ error? If https://www.howtoforge.com/community/threads/postfix-connection-timed-out-error-when-trying-to-send.19997/ you get a ‘Connection Timed out’ error when sending email via our SMTP relay, it means that you are using an smtp port that is blocked. By default, we recommend using port 25 when sending emails via our SMTP relay. However, some ISPs may block port 25. If this is timed out the case, try using port 587. Ports 465 and 588 can also work, but make sure to test 465 first with SSL enabled to secure your sending. 588 won't support SSL. You can find this port information on your SMTP Settings page. If you are using your own server with our SMTP relay, you can use this snippet of code to test which failed to connect ports are open before you try sending. When trying to send externally I get "Connection timed out (port 25)" error in the log. I haven't been able to find much about this error anywhere... any ideas? Also, when trying to send from Outlook mail client, I get a 554 5.7.1: Relay access denied... when sending from local webmail client, it says it sends fine, but, it gets deferred after a "Connection timed out" error in the log. main.cf file is setup exactly like the "Perfect Server" setup for Fedora 8 & local-host-names are correct. thanks! mfdeck, Jan 31, 2008 #1 topdog Active Member HowtoForge Supporter mfdeck said: Have postfix running on Fedora 8 with ISPConfig... able to receive mail, but, not send it out. First you are getting relaying denied because your network is not in "mynetworks" as for outbound email it seems like you cannot make connections outside to port 25. I am on a godaddy dedicated server... and from what I'm reading, they require a relayhost, which I believe is smtp.secureserver.net, but, this doesn't help, either.
