I can use it from my local library and many other libraries around me (and also from Starbucks, Panera, etc.) and it works. But I tried to use it today from my dad's house the same as before, and I get the error: Network error: Connection timed out. You'll probably have to get into some specifics of your dad's network setup (i.e. test for some of those problems) in order to get specific help. –JoshP Jul 18 '12 at 22:48 Coincidentally, my campus had a power outage (which outlasted the long length UPS on the target machine) at the same time as my apartment. So when the power outage forced me to SSH in from my dad's for the first time, it also knocked the target computer out. Verizon was innocent (but they're still bad at math: verizonmath.blogspot.com). –Jeff Jul 19 '12 at 2:33 Ack! Lol. Glad to hear it was something simple –JoshP Jul 19 '12 at 2:43 :) glad it worked out for you! –Sandro Dzneladze Jul 19 '12 at 12:15 i found this question today, and then realized that last night i have changed my router firewalls settings, from low to medium.. :) –ADM May 21 '15 at 6:12 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 8 down vote This mea

I'm guessing if you tried to ping X you would see that ping would fail too. –Andy Dalton Aug 12 '15 at 13:34 Server X is pinging . –Praveen Korrapati Aug 12 '15 at 13:43 What is the result of telnet x 22. X would be your server ip and 22 would be the port on which SSH server is running. –Vidyadhar Aug 12 '15 at 14:40 X server is connecting/pinging from every where except from putty. –Praveen Korrapati Aug 12 '15 at 14:42 | show 5 more comments active oldest votes Know someone who can answer? On the localhost, PuTTY can connect with no problem. Two PCs see each other well, except this SSH issue. Port 443 is listened by Copssh and called by both PuTTYs. I tried the same with port 80 and 22, same result. Could you please help me to solve this network problem ? Thanks, crazyboot Top reply Mon, 07/02/2011 - 10:56 #2 itefix Offline Last seen: 1 hour 39 min ago Joined: 01.05.2008 - 21:33 Did you configure firewall on Did you configure firewall on Copssh machine to allow comunication on the listening port ? Try to activate logging on Putty to get more info about communication. Copssh and other pc are both on windows 7, its firewall is on. I tried by allowing Copssh Control Panel executable in all ports allowed, and with everything else allowed, but the result was the same. Maybe I should only open 443 port on windows' firewall but i'm afraid not to know how ? There are many types of rules now, I am not used to customize it. About putty logging, I put it on, with all session output, and browsing to c:\putty.log but no file putty.log was created after openning... surely i missed something but still don't see what? The version of Putty is release 0.60.
