Also sometimes, the screen gets stuck on "downloading terrain" and then after a while it will say "connection lost : timed out" EDIT: I also discovered I can run a server from my laptop from the same port that the desktop server is running on. It normally would say "ERROR: COULD NOT BIND TO PORT, IS THERE ANOTHER SERVER RUNNING ON THAT PORT" but now it does nothing so this makes me think something is wrong with the internal network connection. But I'm not sure. EDIT: This person seemed to have the same problem I did but nobody answered him. http:/

I am live in the UK, I can connect to servers that are based timed out in the UK just fine. When I try to connect to a server that is based in the US I get this error. It also happenes with some EU based servers. I have called my ISP to see if it is a networking issue, but they couldn't offer me any help. Recently, I have been read timed out accpeted to play on a whitelisted survival server that is based in the US. When I try to connect, I see the screens: -Logging in -Downloading Terrain (pause for roughly 30 seconds here) -Internal Exception java.net.SocketTimeoutException. Read timed out. and then I am returned back to the main screen. Meanwhile players who are successfully connected to the server have told me that they "see me" logging in, and then log off, presumably once I time out. To add to the frustration, the server has many players who connect from the UK and do not have any of these problems. If so, then bad news, there's no real "fix" for that except crossing your fingers and hoping it goes away on a server restart etc. E: Unless the server is using all of it's RAM, then this might happen as well. Moasseman, May 31, 2013 #3 Skyswimsky New Member Well, at the same time it is also my server, about the Ram, I have 8Gig, 64bit and use following for the serve
