Hi. I'm having trouble recording more than 3 or 4 guitar tracks in GB. When I try and do more I get a message saying http://www.mac-forums.com/showthread.php?t=268488 my track couldn't be played back and to check the optimization pages in the help documents. I've followed those suggestions (locking tracks etc) but I still only manage to get only one more short recording. Im using a MacBook Pro (2.4 GHz, 4GB RAM, 1333MHz) I've seen people with less powerful machines with 40+ tracks, any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance for any suggestions. How full is your hard drive? 2. Any other programs still running, taking up RAM? 3. What speed (RPM) is the hard drive in that MBP? Here's the answers... 1. 576 GB (I'm assuming that's more than enough!?) 2. Nope, I made sure everything else was closed. 3. 5400 RPM Does this suggest any possible issues? Reply With Quote 03-04-20

Why is GarageBand having trouble keeping up? Hey! Okay, so I have a brand new decked out iMac. 16GB ram, one terabyte hard drive. Comes with GarageBand of course. I am a total noob to all this, and I am recording basic stuff. Frequently, during playback, it will stop playing and a message comes up saying there are too many real instrument tracks for too many real time playback. It's not like I'm doing anything wild here, I don't think. Here an example of a track setup I have that keeps locking up: -high hats w/ distortion, EQ, and reverb. -snare with " -kick with " -cow bell with reverb (all the aforementioned drums are software instruments using the GarageBand samples) -bass with EQ -guitar with a Lapou amp sim, LeCab, and IR's -another guitar with the same setup -vocal track with reverb, distortion, and EQ. So garageband optimizing performance 8 tracks, each with a few effects and compression. That doesn't seem like much to me. Especially considering GarageBand is set up to work with 64 tracks of audio! What gives here? I feel like if I spent this much on a computer, it ought to be able to handle 8 tracks of audio right? Help! please check out my band, ARC! fuisiony-metuhlz.
