system resourcesSlipstick SystemsHome / Exchange Server / Exchange Server Error: 452 4.3.1 Insufficient system resources Last reviewed on September 12, 2011 —No Comments An administrator recently complained about a problem receiving email in Exchange 2010. The Protocol logs reported "452 4.3.1 Insufficient system resources" while the Application Event Log contained Event ID 15006 from MSExchangeTransport: “Microsoft Exchange Transport is rejecting message submissions because the available disk space has dropped below the configured threshold." The event went on to say that Queue database logging disk space and Physical memory load resources were under pressure and mail submission was disabled due to back pressure. The problem was easy enough to solve by making more room on the disk, but the administrator was perplexed because he had nearly 4 GB of free space on the drive. A little background The Transport service monitors system resources such as disk space and memory on Transport servers and stops message submission if it's running low on these resources and messages are held in the queue until resource utilization returns to normal. There wasn't enough free disk space (4GB) on the volume where the Queue database is located to make Exchange happy, hence the error. While you can disable resource monitoring to eliminate this error, its not recommended. The better solution is to make sure you have sufficient resources to avoid the error. In this case, free up space on the drives, either by moving the message queue or deleting files. Moving Queue files To move the queue files, you need to edit EdgeTransport.exe.config file located at C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\Bin\. Find the following lines and edit the path to reflect the new location then restart the Microsoft Exchange Transport service. If the path does not exist, the Exchange will create the folders for you.
