Error Type Mismatch In The Default Value
input value to the data type it expects for the value. For example, if you give Access a text error type mismatch found unit string when it is expecting a number, you receive a data type mismatch error. To troubleshoot this message, try the following: If you just changed the Default Value for a field https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa264979(v=vs.60).aspx in a table and see a message about data type mismatch when you try to enter new records, open the table in Design view and make sure the expression you use for the field's Default Value evaluates as the same data type as the field. For example, if the field has the Number data type, make sure you don't put quote marks around https://support.office.com/en-us/article/I-get-a-message-about-data-type-mismatch-c75b62ff-bcfd-4bb0-83f8-8129f372d59f the Default Value expression (e.g., "1" would evaluate as text, not a number.) Verify that the criteria for a column matches the data type of the column's underlying field. If you specify text criteria for a numeric or date/time field, you'll get this error. As an example, if you type the criteria "50" or "12/13/12", an error message is returned because Access interprets values in quote marks as text, not numbers. So be sure to remove those quote marks. You'll know when you enter a valid date in the Criteria field because # signs will appear around the date, like #12/13/12#. Other situations that cause a data type conflict include: You're specifying criteria for a Lookup field, and the criteria use the values that are shown (like a name) in the lookup list instead of their associated foreign key values (like an ID). Because the foreign key values are the values actually stored in the underlying table, you should use them when you specify criteria for a field. You typed the dollar sign ($) in criteria you specified for a Currency field. Remove the dollar sign, and then

Access 2003 + Type mismatch issue P: 1 nckinfutz http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6190974/access-2007-type-mismatch-when-opening-an-ado-connection hello, I am having a problem with an access database. this is not my database and I did not create it, nor am I type mismatch very good at access. however, I am a network engineer and that is why this problem has ended up in my lap i guess. This is the issue: There is an access database that pulls data from a list of excel spread sheets. This access database and excel error type mismatch files are stored on a server. When the database requests info from the excel file and tries to import it from the spread sheet, there is a 'type mismatch' error. Nowthen, if i log on to the database with admin rights, the request works, but if I log on as a user, It doesnt work and I get this mismatch error. However, I have checked all the permissions for the database and folders (etc.) and that all looks fine. I upgraded the back-end database to point to a SQL 2005 server instead of a SQL 2000 server and changed the database connection information appropriately. The file runs perfectly fine on my own system, running Windows 7 (64-bit) and Access 2007. On the target systems running Windows XP and Access 2007, the primary functionality of the database blows up almost immediately with a "Run-time error '13': Type Mismatch" error. At first I thought I was suffering from the same problem as described in this question over here, where the default definition of a connection is DAO but the database is using an ADO object. However, in reviewing the code, every instance of a connection is specifically declared as "ADODB.Connection". The code in question that causes the error is this: Public Sub Tools() dim db as ADODB.Connection dim sql as String sql = "Select SSPatch from tblPlastech" set db = CurrentProject.Connection ' THIS LINE CAUSES THE TYPE MISMATCH ERROR dim rst as ADODB.RecordSet set rst = New ADODB.RecordSet rst.open sql, db, adOpenKeyset, adLockOptimistic gsSSpath = rst!sspath QUOTES = Chr(34) rst.Close set rst = Nothing db.Close set db = Nothing End Sub Can anyone shed a bit of light on the issue? Right now I'm stumped. ms-access ms-access-2007 share|improve this question edited May 31 '11 at 17:36 asked May 31 '11 at 17:02 Hellion 1,2481527 What if you replace rst.open sql, db, adopenkeyset, adlockoptimistic with rst.open sql, currentproject.connection, adopenkeyset, adlockoptimistic? Does that trigger the same error? –Tim Lentine May 31 '11 a
