Pack IIS, Uninstall the CAS, Reinstall the CAS, create the Owa Virtual Directory again and hope it works without losing any data. What are the steps (exactly)? There are so many postings on the Internet asking a repeat or slight variation of my question, I got to believe this is a major malfunction "BUG" with Exchange 2007. Is there somewhere I can go to get a step-by-step an error occurred while creating the iis virtual directory exchange 2013 guide on getting owa up and running again? OWA was working until we uninstalled Exchange 2003. Yes, we followed the instructions to the letter and properly uninstalled 2003. Immediately after, OWA stopped working. We viewed several postings instructing us to remove all of the OWA virtual directories and recreate them using the Management Shell. Well, this did not work! It is disconcerting to see the largest company in the world produce a major product such as Exchange with inherent problems that impact employee productivity without some sort of article or Knowledge base answer. I'm waiting for SP1 since we appear to be stuck with 2007. My other question is, can we go back to Exchange 2003 where things were very smooth and everything worked according to the documentation? Just my opinion, but, Exchange 2007 really feels like a beta product. Major functionality fails and there’s no way to fix it without major downtime and reinstallation of major components. I must be missing something. HELP!

It has taken months for me to find a solution to this in the Lab – including many hours pouring over Google – all of which was to no avail (there is nothing out there about this particular problem). Anyhow – you may have seen the article that I posted here which discusses a potential solution to uninstalling Exchange 2010 from a server when it was previously a DAG configuration – where the DAG was removed (however improperly) and then Service Pack 1 fails. The whole reason why I wanted to remove Exchange from the server (and start again) was because whilst initially trying to apply SP1 to my (at the time) function 2010 RTM environment - I kept getting the following error; Client Access Role Failed Error: The following error was generated when "$error.Clear(); new-AutodiscoverVirtualDirectory -DomainController $RoleDomainController -WSSecurityAuthentication:$true " was run: "An error occurred while creating the IIS virtual directory 'IIS://LAB-EX21K-02.justice.lab.com/W3SVC/1/ROOT/Autodiscover' on 'LAB-EX21K-02'.". An error occurred while creating the IIS virtual directory 'IIS://LAB-EX21K-02.justice.lab.com/W3SVC/1/ROOT/Autodiscover' on 'LAB-EX21K-02'. Cannot create a file when that file already exists. You might be thinking at this point - why didn’t you just re-blow the Operating System and REALLY start again – well the answer to that was – it was really bugging me, plus I had already activated my copy of Windows 2008 R2 with Microsoft and I did not wish to waste the activation and perhaps most importantly I could not accept that such a problem should result in a complete re-blow o
