Creation Of Virtual Directory Failed Cannot Write Configuration File
yet Milestone D4 Assignees No one assigned 6 participants asbjornu commented Mar 7, 2014 I've followed the steps outlined in the readme.md files and have run both build.cmd creation of virtual directory failed cannot read configuration file and the .\tools\Enable-LocalTestMe.ps1 file. I can confirm this by opening readme.localtest.me in a browser; it shows the readme website as expected. However, when I try to load the NuGetGallery.csproj file in Visual Studio, I get the following error message: Creation of the virtual directory http://nuget.localtest.me failed with the error: Cannot create the Web site 'http://nuget.localtest.me'. You must specify creation of virtual directory failed unable to access iis metabase "localhost" for the server name. How do I get around this? yannduran commented Mar 30, 2014 I'm getting exactly the same error. It's disappointing to see that nobody has replied with any suggestion on how to fx it. phatcher commented May 5, 2014 I had this one, check whether your applicationhost.config has the website defined - if you are not an admin, this will have been created in the admin's config file rather than your own. Copy the details from that config to yours (change the id if necessary), the full path is User

Jul 18, 2015 09:59 PM|Bharath A.G|LINK Hi, I believe your are getting this error when you are trying to create VD from VS. Some of the primary checks are make sure that you run the visual studio as administrator (right click and select run as administrator) also make sure that iis metabase compatibility options are installed. Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Turn Windows Features on or off... inside that, we had to select Internet Information Services -> Web Management Tools -> IIS 6 Management Compatibility -> IIS Metabse and IIS 6 configuration compatibility." when trying to open the solution in Visual Studio: The local IIS URL http://localhost/ specified for Web project has not been https://www.reddit.com/r/webdev/comments/3quaue/fixed_creation_of_the_virtual_directory_failed/ configured. In order to open this project the virtual directory needs to be configured.
